NextImg:Crime Briefs: Miniature ninja knives not allowed on plane, ‘lewd’ man on MBTA bus and woman found floating in Saugus

The Memorial Day weekend started with an interesting find by security in Boston Logan International Airport.

“On Saturday @BostonLogan, @TSA officers detected this Naruto ninja knife set in a passenger’s carry-on bag. Knives should always be placed in checked bags only! #travelfail,” tweeted Transportation Security Administration’s New England spokesman Dan Velez on Tuesday.

Naruto is a popular Japanese comic — known as “manga” — character.

The TSA image appears to match that of a product marketed on Amazon as “Ninja Tools Weapon Metal Kunai Prop Leaf Village Shinobi 7 Pcs Toy Necklace.”

Not only is it described as a “toy necklace” in the product name, but customer images show the knives are smaller than an average hand’s palm, though quite large for necklace pieces.

The MBTA Transit Police is once again on the lookout for a man suspected of committing “a lewd act” on public transportation, though this time on a bus.

The department says that the man first committed an indecent sexual assault on two women at around 10 p.m. onThursday and then at 5 p.m. the next day committed “a lewd act” onboard an MBTA bus around Forest Hill Station in Jamaica Plain.

While censored, the provided photo clearly indicates that his “lewd act” involved exposing his groin area on the bus, while apparently staring straight at someone. He also appears to be holding a miniature alcohol bottle, commonly called nips.

Transit Police asks that anyone who recognizes the man in the photo call their detectives at 617-222-1050 and assures that the tips can be anonymous.

A 50-year-old woman’s body was found floating off the beach in Breakheart Reservation in Saugus on Tuesday.

A man fishing at at the beach at the reservation saw the woman’s body floating and called 911 at around 11 a.m., according to Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio.

Saugus Police officers responded to the scene and brought the woman’s body to shore. Emergency Medical Technicians declared the 50-year-old woman dead at the scene.

Saugus Assistant Chief Ron Giorgetti described his department’s role to the Herald as “assisting with an unattended death at Breakheart Reservation,” and deferred all further comment to the State Police.

MSP spokesman David Procopio said that the agency had deployed “patrols, crime scene techs and detectives on scene,” but at around 4:15 said that “there is no evidence of foul play.”

Barring any developments, we are not releasing the decedent’s identity and do not expect to release any further update,” he said.

The woman’s body was sent to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for a post-mortem examination.
