A Middlesex Superior Court jury convicted a Framingham man of stabbing his wife to death at their Taylor Street home in 2022.
Edvardo Gomes-Da Silva, 42, of Framingham, was convicted following a weeklong trial of first degree murder in the death of his wife Neiriane Pereira-Da Silva on July 17, 2022.
“This is a tragic case of domestic violence. Neiriane Pereira-Da Silva was attempting to start a new relationship when the defendant violently attacked her,” Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said following the verdict. “The defendant had made statements that he was not going to permit the victim and his daughter to live with anyone but him. This type of controlling behavior can often tragically lead to violence.”
At around 10:30 p.m. that night, Framingham Police fielded a 911 call from the multi-family home from a caller who said there was blood on the stairway to the third floor and they were concerned for the residents of the apartment.
Both of the husband and wife were suffering from stab wounds when police arrived. The wife was pronounced dead at MetroWest Medical Center.
The investigation revealed that the pair were in the process of breaking up after the wife had fallen for another man and was going to have a child with him.
Prosecutors say that Gomes-DaSilva “became jealous and brutally stabbed her before making an attempt to die by suicide.”
Two men were charged in a Thursday night shooting in Lynn that left one 35-year-old man dead.
Brian Rivera, 36, was charged in Lynn District Court Friday afternoon with murder and related firearms charges as well as possessing controlled drugs of the classes B, C and E. The firearm charges have been elevated as Rivera has a criminal history, according to the Essex District Attorney’s office.
Michael Constabile, 35, was also charged with being an accessory after the fact to the murder as well as with a municipal knife ordinance violation.
Both men pleaded not guilty. Judge Kareem A. Morgan ordered Rivera held without bail and set a $100,000 cash bail for Constabile.
Lynn Police responded to gunshots fired a little before 11:30 p.m. Thursday night in the first block of High Street. At the scene, they found a 35-year-old man unresponsive and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at Salem Hospital.
Authorities have not identified the victim pending notification of his family.
Aaron Olsen, 36, of Manchester, New Hampshire, faces serious assault and battery charges following what prosecutors say was a road rage incident that left the 49-year-old victim suffering from broken bones in his face and a concussion.
“This was a vicious, broad-daylight attack in the middle of a busy intersection that shocked other motorists and left the victim with terrible injuries,” Suffolk DA Kevin Hayden said following Olsen’s arraignment.
Judge David Breen set bail at $200 following Olsen’s arraignment Thursday in Boston Municipal Court’s Roxbury branch.
The beating took place at the intersection of Melnea Cass Boulevard and Hampden Street at around 2 p.m. on Feb. 5. Boston EMS treated the victim at the scene for obvious injuries, including the back of his head bleeding and contusions to the left side of his face.
Doctors at a local hospital would determine that the victim had suffered a concussion and that six of his facial bones had been broken, including orbital bones and a fractured cheekbone.
Prosecutors say that Olsen was identified through a witness’ dashcam footage, which showed his white Chevy Terrain SUV with New Hampshire license plate. They also say that phone records show he called State Police about an hour after the beating to ask if anyone had reported any road rage incidents in the area.
