


A deputy corrections officer with the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office was arrested Friday and charged with assaulting an inmate at the Barnstable House of Corrections, the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
A former inmate accused Deputy Gregory Djaoen of New Bedford of assault and battery, according to officials, who said they were notified during the late afternoon of June 2 of the alleged incident.
“There is security video that assisted with the investigation,” prosecutors said in a statement.
Djaoen is scheduled to be arraigned in court Monday on assault, two charges of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and intimidation of a witness, according to prosecutors. The DA’s office said it had no further comment.
Cape and Islands District Attorney Robert Galibois asked New Bedford Police Chief Paul Oliveira to indefinitely suspend Djaoen’s license to carry a firearm.
Boston police asked the public Saturday to help identify a man believed to be connected to an assault and battery that occurred in the area of 30 Woodbine Street in Roxbury on Thursday.
Police said the man was believed to be driving a blue Ford Explorer with New York plates KLP9401.

Boston police said they are looking for a man they suspect punched someone in the face, causing “serious brain injuries,” on Tremont Street in November 2022.
Officers responded to 279 Tremont Street on Nov. 5, 2022, at about 1:48 a.m. to find witnesses reporting a victim had been punched in the face.
“The suspect then fled into a white party bus with several other males,” police said in a statement released Saturday. “The suspect was described as a light skinned black male, late 20’s/early 30’s, about 5’7”-5’9”, thin build, beard, wearing all tan colored clothes and black high-top sneakers.”
The bus was returning to the South Bay area to drop people off, according to police. Law enforcement said the suspect may frequent the Albion, Dudley, Clifton, and Cottage Streets areas.

Boston police are looking to identify a female they believe is connected to the attempted unarmed robbery of a McDonalds on Warren Street.
Law enforcement officials said a person described as a roughly 30-year-old Black female wearing a white top, blue jeans, and cowboy boots was last seen walking on Warren Street toward Martin Luther King Blvd.
