Two men have been indicted for their alleged roles in a Dorchester shooting last summer that left five people, including two children, wounded.

A Suffolk county grand jury on Tuesday indicted Gianni Williams-Johnson, 24, of Dorchester, and Micah Ennis, 24, of South Boston, on five counts of armed assault with intent to murder, four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, as well as single counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and unlawful possession of firearms. Williams-Johnson was also indicted on a charge of unlawful possession of a machine gun.

The serious charges stem from the Sept. 17 shooting at an apartment complex on the first block of Ames Street. in Dorchester. Police responded there, according to previous Herald reporting, a little before 8:40 p.m. and found three adults and two juveniles suffering from gunshot wounds in a courtyard toward the rear of the building.

Williams-Johnson was arrested on Oct. 2 and has been held at Nashua Street Jail. Ennis was identified as the second suspect at that time but has still not yet been apprehended. Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden issued a plea Tuesday for Ennis to turn himself in.

“This was a shocking, reckless barrage of bullets fired into a courtyard where people were gathered and children were playing, and it’s nothing short of a miracle that no one was killed. But a sister and brother happily playing in the courtyard were seriously wounded, causing enormous and ongoing anguish for their family and for the community,” Hayden said. “I implore Mr. Ennis to turn himself in and face responsibility for this terrible assault on our residents and our neighborhoods.”

Boston Police responded to the area of 63 Bradeen Street for a report of a person stabbed shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday, according to a department statement. Boston Police Superintendent Felipe Colon said during a press conference at the scene that responding officers found a male, “approximately 18 years old, suffering from a life-threatening stab wound” in an alley in the area.

The male was rushed by Boston EMS to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, according to the police statement.

As of Sunday, there had been 34 homicides in the city, lower by three than at the same point last year and 12 fewer than the five-year average of 46 through the same period, according to Boston Regional Intelligence Center statistics.

Homicide detectives are investigating the incident and request that anyone with any information give them a call at 617-343-4470. Information can be provided anonymously through the CrimeStoppers Tip Line by calling 1-800-494-TIPS (8477) or by texting the word “TIP” to CRIME (27463).

Boston Police hauled in Zykaris Hamilton, 19, of Mattapan, on Monday and charged him with the murder of Fermin Baez, 32, of Dorchester, during the summer of 2021.

Police responded to the 1500-block of Tremont Street for a call of a person shot a little before 9 the night of June 7, 2021, according to a Tuesday police statement. There, police found a man, who was later identified as Baez, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He would be pronounced dead that night at a local hospital.

On Monday, police located Hamilton in the 400-block of Canterbury Street and arrested him on a warrant for the Baez’ murder issued out of Suffolk Superior Court. The department statement didn’t provide details on how he was connected to the shooting.

East Bridgewater Police received a strange 911 call Sunday morning: A woman reported that “there was a person unconscious and partially clothed in her side yard at Belmont Street,” according to the Plymouth District Attorney’s office.

The reality of the situation was tragic. Local police and fire personnel arrived at the home and found a woman, later identified as Nicole Swan, 42, of Brockton, face down in the grass. She was dead.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death as State Police detectives assigned to the DA’s office investigate her case.
