Authorities say they have solved the Somerville murder of 23-year-old Charline Rosemond 16 years after the fact.

On Thursday, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Somerville Police Chief Shumeane Benford announced that Heinsky Anacreon, 38, of Malden, has been indicted for Rosemond’s murder.

“Charline Rosemond was a promising and hard-working young woman with her whole life ahead of her,” DA Ryan said in announcing the charge. “We allege today that she was taken advantage of and murdered by two men who were willing to take her life for $4,000. They killed her in cold blood.”

On April 13, 2009, Rosemond was found shot to death in her father’s car in a parking lot in Union Square. She had not been seen since the previous April 7.

Ryan said that her killers, one of whom is now dead and cannot be charged, “celebrated the murder with a bottle of champagne” as the young woman’s family frantically searched for her, not knowing that her body was slumped over for days in that car in the parking lot.

The other alleged killer, Roberto Jeune, was well known to Rosemond, according to Ryan, who had considered him one of her closest friends. Investigators say that Jeune used a Lexus GS300, the exact model of car Rosemond wanted to buy, as a lure to her death and so that the two men could pocket the money without actually selling the car.

Jeune died of natural causes in Philadelphia on July 8, 2024.

This is a developing story.
