NextImg:Clippers rule out nearly entire lineup for Celtics matchup

Next up on the Celtics’ schedule: a date with the Los Angeles Clippers’ JV squad.

Amid a grueling stretch of four games in five days, the Clippers chose to sit nearly all of their regulars for the Wednesday matchup with Boston at the Intuit Dome. LA ruled out the following seven players:

James Harden (right groin soreness)
Kawhi Leonard (right knee injury management)
Norman Powell (back soreness)
Ivica Zubac (left eye corneal abrasion)
Kris Dunn (left knee soreness)
Nicolas Batum (right finger soreness)
P.J. Tucker (not with team)

Harden, Leonard, Powell and Zubac make up four-fifths of the Clippers’ preferred starting lineup, and Dunn has started 29 games this season. Dunn and Batum were the only players to appear in every Clippers game before Wednesday, with the latter making one start and averaging 17.7 minutes per night.

The lone LA starter set to play against Boston is wing Derrick Jones Jr., whom the Celtics faced in last season’s NBA Finals as a member of the Dallas Mavericks. Jones is averaging 9.8 points per game this season. The only active Clippers player averaging more than 10 is backup guard Amir Coffey (10.3).

Boston routed the Clippers at TD Garden on Nov. 25, cruising to a 136-92 win while Leonard and Powell sat out with injuries.

The Celtics are coming off a similarly lopsided victory, blowing out the injury-depleted Golden State Warriors 125-85 on Monday. Wednesday’s game is the first of a back-to-back for them, with a visit to the Lakers on tap for Thursday.

Jrue Holiday (shoulder), Al Horford (big toe) and Kristaps Porzingis (illness) were listed as questionable for Boston.
