The NBA announced the dates and times of the best-of-seven first-round series between the Celtics and Hawks, with the second-seeded C’s beginning their chase for a championship with Saturday’s Game 1 at TD Garden.
The Celtics learned their opponent after the Hawks upset the Heat in Tuesday night’s play-in game to determine the Eastern Conference’s No. 7 seed. Boston went 3-0 against Atlanta this season, though one of the games was Sunday’s regular-season finale when both teams rested their starters.
The winner of the Celtics-Hawks series will play the winner of the 76ers-Nets series in the second round.
The Celtics and Hawks have met 12 times in the postseason, with the C’s taking 10 of those series. The last series came in the 2016 first round, when the Hawks beat the Celtics in six games. The last time the C’s won the championship in 2008, they defeated the Hawks in seven games in the first round.
