A Cape Cod man has been charged with possessing bomb-making materials and trafficking fentanyl connected to an investigation into the deaths of his two roommates.
Andreas Miller, 43, of Chatham, is charged with possession of an incendiary device and trafficking in fentanyl after police say they found these materials while conducting a search of the home where two adults who lived with Miller were found dead.
Miller pleaded not guilty to the charges at Orleans District Court. He was ordered held without bail ahead of a dangerousness hearing scheduled for tomorrow morning.
Chatham police received a call directing them to an undisclosed address at around 10:30 a.m. on April 8, where they found the bodies of a 55-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman.
Authorities say that the woman appeared to have fatally overdosed whereas the man appeared to have shot himself. While investigating the deaths, police obtained a search warrant of the home and say that they found “materials consistent with making homemade explosives” as well as 75 grams of pressed fentanyl pills, a white powder of suspected fentanyl and approximately $50,000 in cash.
“Due to the nature of this case the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office will make no further comment at this time regarding charges against Andreas Miller,” the office stated in a press release.
