Cambridge firefighters were battling a heavy blaze at a church on Easter, according to officials.

The Cambridge Fire Department had ordered a third alarm late Sunday afternoon for the fire at Faith Lutheran Church located on Broadway near Prospect Street. Heavy fire was reported.

The church had an Easter service Sunday morning, and it was reportedly vacant when the fire spread during the late afternoon.

“Patrol Units are assisting @CambridgeMAFire with traffic control following a fire at a vacant building on Broadway,” Cambridge Police tweeted. “Prospect Street at Broadway is currently closed.”
