Despite attempts by first responders to render medical aid, a local teen and a Dorchester man died after they were found shot multiple times while sitting in a car in Braintree.

According to a release from the Braintree Police Department, around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning, officers were dispatched to the area of Alfred Road after several 911-callers reported gunfire in the area.

“Braintree Police Officers arrived on-scene within seconds and located two individuals in a parked motor vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds,” the department wrote in a release. “A third person in the car was uninjured. Numerous life-saving measures were initiated by police, Braintree Police Department, Fire Department personnel, and Brewster Ambulance paramedics. Both victims ultimately succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital.”

One of two victims lived on the street where the shooting occurred, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office, who identified the victims as 19-year-old Jayden Santos-Andrade, of Dorchester,  and 16-year-old Jahzier Porter, of Braintree.

“We have two families grieving today,” Norfolk DA Michael Morrissey said. “We have detectives in the field from Braintree and State Police trying to gather evidence of what happened and who may have been involved.”

“Any member of the public who believes they have information, or who lives in the area of Albert Road and may have seen anything unusual during the 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. time frame, or whose Ring or similar doorbell camera may have captured anything unusual, is urged to contact the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit in the District Attorney’s Office at 781-830-4990 or the Braintree Police at 781-794-8620,” he continued.

Porter had been a student at Braintree High School, according to the DA’s office, and Braintree Mayor Charles Kokoros told reporters at a Sunday morning press conference he is “in contact with the superintendent of schools to discuss making resources available to members of the school community.”

Santos-Andrade would have turned 20-years-old next month, the DA’s office noted.

The department reports that, though the investigation is ongoing, there is no additional danger to the public.
