After taking a fifth in the pommel horse at the state championships a year ago, Benny capped off his senior year in style by winning the event as Burlington captured the team title. A high honor roll student, Benny plans on majoring in kinesiology in college.

NATHAN BUNTEN

BURLINGTON

The sophomore earned a pair of perfect scores in the regular season, registering a 10.0 in both the floor exercise and still rings. Bunten scored a 10 to win the floor exercise at the States and followed that up with a 9.4 to win the parallel bars. A Level 10 gymnast, Bunten trains at Brestyan’s in Burlington.

DEVIN HAZEN

BURLINGTON

The junior won the All-Around at the State Championships with a score of 47.2. Hazen also won the high bar (7.5) and rings (8.0). Hazen also plays football and trains in boxing. His longterm goal is to attend Norwich University.

CHRISTIAN KATENDE

BURLINGTON

The senior standout capped off a terrific career by placing third in the floor exercise, second on the parallel bars and third in the All-Around at the state championships. As a junior, Katende was fifth in the pommel horse, six in the high bar and sixth in the All-Around at the States. A member of the National Honor Society, Katende competes on the school’s outdoor track team. Katende will attend Wentworth in the fall.

LORENZO LEARY

LOWELL

The sophomore was the only member of the Lowell team at the State championships, but he turned in a stellar performance, finishing second in the All-Around with a score of 46.5. Leary captured the vault title by posting a score of 9.5. Leary also plays soccer and enjoys snowboarding and travel. Leary’s longterm goals are to study economics and environmental science.

RYAN LIN

NEWTON

The junior placed second in the pommel horse and rings at the State championships in Burlington. An Eagle Scout, Lin also plays badminton. His longterm goals are to potentially attend architecture school.
