NextImg:Boston weather: Rainy spring week incoming

Boston is in for a very wet week with an onslaught of showers throughout the next several days, according to National Weather Service forecasts.

“It looks like it’s going to be a pretty rainy week,” said NWS meteorologist Kyle Pederson. “It’ll be multiple rounds of rain, starting (Monday) with another round possible Tuesday.”

Monday and Tuesday both have high chances of precipitation throughout both days. Throughout the week, highs are expected to remain “definitely cooler than this last week,” Pederson said, as “typical spring weather” sets in.

Monday is expected to kick off the week with patchy fog through the morning and chillier weather, with the high forecasted to reach 57 degrees.

Tuesday is forecasted to warm up a little, NWS states, with a predicted high in the mid-60s. Through Tuesday, Pederson said, rain is expected to be not “too heavy” in the Boston area.

“Maybe little over a half inch through Tuesday,” said Pederson. “Go further west, we’ll get up closer to two inches in Western Mass and the Berkshires. Good soaking rain but doesn’t look like any flooding rains.”

Thunderstorms are “possible” in Boston on Tuesday, forecasts show, after 9 a.m.

“There’s nothing severe right now for what we’re looking at for this week,” said Pederson. “For the most part, it looks like it’s just rain and maybe an isolated chance for thunder on Tuesday.”

Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be “not as rainy,” Pederson said.

Both Wednesday and Thursday are expected to see slightly warmer highs in the upper 60s, and lower chances of rain, NWS forecasts show.

Friday is expected to be cooler again, with a likely high in the mid-50s, according to NWS forecasts.

“Then rain comes right back for Friday and Saturday possibly,” Pederson said. “So it looks like it’s not going to be the best outdoors type of week.”
