Boston Police arrested a 36-year-old man featured in the department’s “Most Wanted” list on charges of breaking, possession of an electric stun gun and more early Saturday, according to the department.
At around 2 a.m. Saturday, BPD said, Dorchester officers responded to a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle on Arcadia Street where they found a suspect closing the driver’s side door.
Upon seeing the police, the department said, the suspect allegedly “immediately dropped his backpack and tried to jump over a fence in an attempt to flee.”
The cops chased the suspect, later identified as Donnell Butler, 36, of Boston, and a “struggle ensued,” BPD said. After more officers arrived on the scene, Butler was placed in handcuffs.
During a search, officers allegedly recovered an electric stun gun, two screwdrivers, an electric screwdriver, socket wrench, and a socket set “consistent with burglarious tools.” Police said they also found a switchblade from the suspect’s waistband.
Butler was recently featured on Boston Police’s “Most Wanted List” for five warrants, including charges of breaking and entering, larceny from a building, receiving stolen property and more.
He’sexpected to be arraigned in Dorchester Court on charges of breaking and entering in the nighttime for a felony, possession of an electric stun gun, possession of burglarious tools, and resisting arrest.
At around 2:30 p.m. Saturday in South Boston, police responded to Allstate Road for a report of a person using drugs inside the Target bathroom at the South Bay Mall.
At the scene, South Bay Mall security told the BPD that the man, later identified as Alejandro Ortiz, 47, of Boston, displayed a firearm and pointed it at their feet before heading toward Famous Footwear. The detective relayed information and a description to responding officers, Boston Police said, and told them he was now behind the Home Depot.
The cops found the suspect, who allegedly resisted orders to stop and attempted to flee, BPD said. During a “violent struggle,” Ortiz “began reaching towards his waistband,” the department said, but officers eventually placed him in handcuffs.
The gun was determined to be a KAHR Arms, with one round in the chamber, five rounds in the magazine and a defaced serial number, police said.
Ortiz is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court for various firearm charges including possession of a firearm in commission of a felony and assault with a dangerous weapon
Boston Police said they recovered a second firearm during a traffic stop in Roxbury around 2:50 p.m. Friday. Cops in the area of Circuit Street began the stop after allegedly observing a motor vehicle with revoked insurance operating.
The driver, identified as Johnson Prevot, 35, of Boston, was ordered to exit the vehicle during the stop so it could be towed, BPD said. In the car, police said, officers found a firearm, later determined to be an AM-15 with six rounds in the magazine.
Prevot is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on firearm charges including unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm and defacement of the firearm’s serial number.
