A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the homicide of young mother Felicia McGuyer, who went missing more than 15 years ago, according to Boston police.
Over the weekend, members of the BPD Fugitive Unit arrived at the Baker County Detention Center in Florida for the rendition of David Pena, who was McGuyer’s boyfriend at the time of her disappearance.
He was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Dorchester District Court for a murder charge stemming from the death of McGuyer — who was last seen on Oct. 7, 2007, in the area of Roxton Street in Dorchester.
McGuyer was 32 years old when she disappeared, leaving behind her 10-year-old son. Her body has not been located.
“McGuyer’s family is concerned for her safety and well-being,” Boston police wrote in 2013 as authorities again asked for the public’s help in the missing mother case. “It is not common behavior for McGuyer to be out of touch with her son, other family and friends.”
In 2017, police searched a wooded area in West Roxbury as part of the investigation.
Pena’s prosecution is the result of a lengthy investigation by the Boston Police Department and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office, the DA’s Office said in a statement on Monday. Information leading to Pena’s arrest was developed through interviews conducted since McGuyer’s disappearance, with the latest taking place last March.
“Felicia McGuyer’s family and friends have lived with her tragic absence for many years,” said DA Kevin Hayden. “While Mr. Pena’s arrest and arraignment can never erase their grief, it can at least provide the knowledge that someone will be held accountable for her death.”
Upon arrival at Logan International Airport over the weekend, Pena was transported to a BPD station, where he was booked in the usual manner. Police learned he was also wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Suffolk Superior Court on charges of trafficking cocaine.
Pena will appear on Tuesday in Dorchester District Court for arraignment on his charges.
