The Herald has compiled a database of the 301 new positions Boston Mayor Michelle Wu created in her first term, because the city wouldn’t do it.

The new employees, 97 of whom earn more than $100,000, were added over a three-year period, from 2022 to 2024, the Herald reported earlier this week. The mayor took office in November 2021.

The salaries total roughly $27.6 million, amounting to 0.6% of the city’s $4.6 billion budget, which grew by 8% this fiscal year. City spending, per a Herald review, has increased by about $1 billion over the course of the Wu administration. Here is the data:

The average salary among the 301 new positions is $84,781, and pay tops out at $194,300.

The payroll data was provided by the mayor’s office in a photocopied format. The Herald requested the city share the information in an Excel database, but the city would not comply with that request, leading the Herald to input it independently.

The mayor was compelled to provide the data to the Boston City Council, in response to a 17F request filed by Councilor Erin Murphy.
