Workers finished installing the iconic Boston Marathon finish line in bright yellow and blue Thursday as runners from around the world race in for Monday.

The finish line decal installation began at 9 a.m. Thursday on Boylston Street near Copley Square, following the painting of the start line in Hopkinton on Wednesday.

Marathon weekend events will kick into full gear Friday, with the Bank of America Boston Marathon Expo launching at the John Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center at 10 a.m., the Boston Marathon Fan Fest at City Hall Plaza starting up at 3 p.m., and the Samuel Adams Run Pub opening also at City Hall Plaza. All three events will run through Sunday.

The Boston Marathon Lights the Way showcase will also kick off Friday, illuminating facade of the Fairmont Copley Plaza with visuals and athletes’ stories. The showcase continues nightly starting at 8 p.m. through Monday.
