SARAH CLAFLIN

PEMBROKE

The Div. 4 state champion in the 55 meters (7.12) as well as the long jump (18 feet, 6.75 inches). She was runner-up in the All-State meet in the 55-meters (7.01) while placing third in the long jump at 18-1.5. The senior also plays soccer and plans to run track at the University of Connecticut in the fall.

ANNIE COMELLA

WELLESLEY

The junior was a key component behind the team’s successful defense of its Div. 2 state team title. Comella won the 55 meters (7.19) and took second in the 300 (41.23). She claimed the All-State title in the long jump with a winning leap of 18 feet, 2.50 inches. Comella holds the school record in the 55 meters (7.13) which she achieved at the MSTCA Coaches Large School Invitational Meet.

ABBY DESMARAIS

FRAMINGHAM

The two-time Div. 1 state champion and MVP of the meet in the 55 meters and 300 meters this season, Desmarais took home the top time in the 300 (39.61) as well as the 55 (7.03). A time of 39.99 won her the 300 at the All-States and placed third in the 55 with a time of 7.08. A member of the National Honor Society, Desmarais will run at Holy Cross in the fall.

CHARLOTTE DIROCCO

CONCORD-CARLISLE

The Div. 2 high jump champion (5-feet-4), DiRocco placed 15th at the New Balance Indoor Nationals meet at 1.62 meters. She set a personal record of 7.44 in the 55 meters and qualified for states. The high honors student and a member of the National Honor Society, DiRocco established a school record in the high jump. She will be running track and studying biological sciences at Dartmouth.

ABIGAIL HENNESSY

WESTFORD ACADEMY

The sensational sophomore placed first at the All-States with a 2:53.54 in the 1000 meters, while also taking the top time in the Div. 1 meet in the same event (2:55.61). She set a personal record with a 2:15.72 in the New Balance Indoor Nationals 800 meters and set a personal record of 1:36.71 in the 600 in the Dual County League Championship.

CAROLINE HERLIHY

WINCHESTER

The senior placed first at Nike Nationals in the Emerging Elite Division and took home the Div. 1 state title in shot put with a throw of 39 feet,1.5 inches. The four-time Middlesex League All Star and two-time Middlesex League All-Conference team member has a 117-2 discus throw in her career. The National Honor Society member will be off to Sacred Heart University for the next stage of her career.

NYRAH JOSEPH

BILLERICA

The junior won the 55-meter hurdles at All-States with a time of 8.26. Joseph took second in the 2024 MSTCA Indoor Pentathlon with a school-record 3,354 points. The 2024 MSTCA Small School Coaches Invitational Outstanding Female Athlete Award winner and two-time All-Scholastic member is hoping to be recruited by a Div. 1 college with a competitive track and field program while focusing her studies on exercise science.

SASHA LAMAKINA

FRAMINGHAM

The sophomore took home first in the 600 meters at the Div. 1 championships in 1:36.43 and was All-State runner-up in the same race (1:35.43). She holds the school record with a 1:35.55 in the 600 and anchored at the New Balance Indoor Nationals with a time of 2:15 for the 4×800 relay. As a freshman, she was runner-up in the 600 at the Div. 1 championships. Lamakina is in all honors and AP level classes with a 4.0 GPA.

GIULIANA LIGOR

NORTH READING

The junior won the Div. 5 state title in the 600 meters (1:35.41) and the long jump (17 feet, 4.25 inches), while taking second in the 300 (40.11). The MSTCA state champion in the pentathlon, Ligor also took home the All-State crown in the 600 (1:34.88). She broke six school records and placed fifth in the 600 at the New Balance Indoor Nationals. The Cape Ann League Athlete of the Year is an honors/high honors student.

CARMEN LUISI

HOLLISTON

The senior won a pair of Div. 4 state events, the 1,000 meters (2:25.24) and the one mile (5:02.68) while her team won the Div. 4 state title. She is now a nine-time Div. 4 state champion in indoor track and field and set a personal and meet record with a 2:53.25 in the 1,000 at the MSTCA Northeast Invitational meet. The honors student will attend Syracuse University to continue her academic and athletic careers.

GIANNA MCGOWAN

BILLERICA

The freshman set the record for fastest mile in 5:04.06 and also set the freshman mark in the two mile with a 10:54.51. She ran the two mile in 11:14.14 in the Div. 3 meet while claiming third at All-States with a 11:03.37. The first-team Merrimack Valley Conference All-Conference team member and team MVP is an high honor roll student. She plans to run track in college while majoring in the medical field.

GABRIELLE PIERRE

LINCOLN-SUDBURY

The school record holder in the long jump and triple jump, Pierre won the Div. 1 state title in the long jump with a jump of 19 feet, 2.25 inches and was the All-State runner-up (18-1.50). The junior also qualified for the New Balance National meet and was a MSTCA Coaches Invitational champion.

LAUREN QUARM

METHUEN

The sensational sophomore set the Merrimack Valley Conference meet record in the 55 meters (7.11) and was second in the Div. 1 meet (7.08). The All-State meet champion in the 55 meters, Quarm ran a 6.95 to finish third at the New Englands. Quarm is a two-time Merrimack Valley Conference first team All-Conference team member.

ZOE SANTOS

NORTON

Santos won the Div. 4 title in the high jump, then went on to capture the All-State title with a winning leap of 5-feet-8. The junior also placed second at New Englands with a jump of 5-7. The four-time Tri-Valley League All-Star and next year’s team captain has now qualified for nationals four times. The high honor roll student plans to focus on the principles of mathematics and science in college.

CHARLOTTE TUXBURY

WELLESLEY

The two-time Bay State Conference All-Star won the Div. 2 mile (5:00.44), while also taking home the crown at All-States with a 4:56.35 in that same event. The junior also won the Bay State Conference mile and 4×800 relay with a 14th-place finish in the mile at nationals and ninth-place time in the 4×800 relay.

LUCIA WERNER

BROOKLINE

The Div. 1 champion in the two mile (10:58.41) also ran a 10:57.60 in the MSTCA Large Schools Coaches Invitational to take home that crown. The senior also placed fourth at All-States with a 11:05.32 in the two mile. She has a 3.92 GPA and is a four-time All-Scholastic in cross country. Werner is committed to Cornell University for cross country and track.

MANSFIELD

The quartet of Olivia Barry, Chloe Guthrie, Elyssa Buchanan and Abigail Scott won the Div. 3 state relay title in the 4×200 (1:46.51), then went on to win the All-State meet (1:45.93). Barry, a captain and National Honor Society member, will attend UMass to major in business management. Buchanan also qualified for All States in the 55 hurdles and is a three-time Hockomock League All Star. The National Honor Society member and high honor roll student is planning to study nursing in college. Guthrie also competed at New Englands and nationals and plans to go to a four-year college while majoring in sports management or law. Scott is a four-time Hockomock League meet champion in the 100 meters and 200. She is a member of the National Honor Society who will study nursing at Howard University.

CENTRAL CATHOLIC

The team of Laura Fennessy, Emma Finch, Veralie Perrier and Rayniah Mercedat placed third in the Div. 1 State meet (4:02.22) and second at All-States (4:02.22). Fennessey is a member of the National Honor Society and took second in the 600 meters at the Div. 1 State meet. The Sacred Heart-bound Perrier was a three-time all-MVC performer who took a second in the long jump at the Div. 1 State meet. Finch is a member of the National Honor Society who finished in the top 10 in the 300 meters at the Div. 1 States. The New Haven-bound Merecdat had personal bests of 7.70 in the 55 meters, 41.37 in the 300 and 1:43.06 in the 600.

WELLESLEY

The foursome of Delaney Dyer, Kayla Bohlin, Emma Tuxbury and Charlotte Tuxbury won the Div. 2 title (9:45.41), then added the All-State title (9:27.74) a week later. An honor roll student, Emma Tuxbury ran a 5.05 in the mile and a 2:18 in the 800. Bohlin was a Bay State Conference All-Star and a high honors student who placed third in the 600 at the Meet of Champions. Dyer is a member of the National Honor Society who posted personal bests of 2:58.02 in the 1,000, 2:18.82 in the 800 and a 60.3 in the 400.
