


Firefighters stopped a church blaze from spreading and extinguished a fire at the Jamaica Plain VA Medical Center on Tuesday, according to officials.
Boston firefighters responded to Boylston Congregational Church in Jamaica Plain at around 3 p.m., for a fire in the church’s basement.
“Heavy smoke” was reported from the blaze.
“Companies were able to quickly contain the fire and stop it from spreading throughout the church,” the Boston Fire Department posted.
Earlier on Tuesday, firefighters responded to the JP VA Medical Center for an outside fire that had extended to the MRI building there. A 2nd alarm was ordered for the fire.
The firefighters extinguished the blaze, and no injuries were reported.
“A great job by the hospital staff helping with the evacuation,” Boston Fire posted. “No injuries to report, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.”
