City Councilor Kendra Lara crashed her car into a house in Jamaica Plain Friday afternoon, causing injury, according to a draft police report shared with the Herald by three separate highly placed sources.

Lara, 33, who represents Jamaica Plain as the District 6 councilor, could not be reached for comment after multiple attempts Friday evening.

Boston Police Officer Stephen McNulty, a spokesman for the department, confirmed that a car crash happened at 803 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain shortly before 4:30 p.m. but that the incident is “being documented at the present” and that he could not confirm any other details without the finished report in hand.

“Officers observed the vehicle located inside the left side of the home, indicating a significant impact,” the draft report shared with the Herald stated, adding that the car had first veered into the house’s fence, then bushes before striking the home.

When police arrived, Boston firefighters and EMTs were already at the scene, according to the report, and Lara and her young child were in an ambulance.

According to the draft report, Lara was driving an unregistered vehicle and her license had been revoked. It further alleges that her child was not in a booster seat, which is a violation of state law for children younger than 8 or shorter than 57 inches.

The narrative states that because of this alleged danger, a 51A report — a form required to be submitted to the Department of Children and Families when “child abuse or neglect” is suspected — was filed “due to neglect and failure to use a proper car seat for the child’s safety.”

Lara allegedly told police that she was driving down Centre Street when a car pulled out in front of her. She told officers that she swerved to avoid hitting the car but could not brake fast enough to avoid collision with the home.

Attempts to reach phone numbers associated with 803 Centre Street Friday night were unsuccessful.

The Herald requested the official police report at 8:20 p.m.
