Former big-city police commissioner Bill Bratton said the announcement that President Donald Trump will attend Sunday’s Super Bowl just sent the security alert in New Orleans to SEAR 1.

That’s as high as an alert can climb.

“This adds a whole new layer of safety,” said Bratton, hired to help The Big Easy police after the New Year’s Day terror attack. “There’s a heightened sense of security as New Orleans is trying not to change the flavor of Mardi Gras.”

Bratton, the one-time head of the Boston, Los Angeles and New York City police departments, told the Herald Thursday that as a consultant with his firm Teneo, his job is to do an after-action report on the lone wolf attack that left 14 dead and 35 others injured.

Having Trump in town, the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl, has all eyes pointed to New Orleans more than ever. Bratton said the swarm of National Guard troops and federal agents — including Border Patrol — makes this event a no-go for bad guys.

“We have a high degree of comfort it will go off well,” Beatton said. “This is the last place an illegal immigrant would want to be hanging out.”

As for foreign invaders, Bratton said he’s “always worried” about Iran’s “aggressiveness,” but Trump has “made it clear he’d meet aggression with aggression.”

Trump said on Tuesday if Iran carries out his assassination, advisers will ensure that country is “obliterated,” Fox News reported. The Justice Department, Fox added, confirmed in November it thwarted an Iranian plot to kill Trump in the weeks leading up to the presidential election.

Bratton said his mission is to help New Orleans “look at enhancements” and “more permanent solutions” to improve safety without taking away what makes the city a destination hotspot.

SEAR 1, Bratton added, stands for Special Events Assessment Rating where “threat, vulnerability and consequence” are primary.
