In his first press conference of the offseason, Patriots coach Bill Belichick fielded dozens of questions about the state of the team Monday, including his remade coaching staff.

In January, the Patriots hired Bill O’Brien to replace both Matt Patricia as the team’s offensive play-caller and Joe Judge as the team’s quarterbacks coach. Adrian Klemm, formerly an assistant at the University of Oregon and with the Steelers, later replaced Patricia as the team’s offensive line coach. Linebackers coach Jerod Mayo returned to the team on a new deal after the team announced it was entering contract negotiations to keep him, and Judge is back in a new role serving as the assistant head coach with a focus on special teams.

Belichick declined to offer specifics on any of their situations during his press conference at the NFL owners meetings. Here are Belichick’s comments on all four of his current and former assistants:

Bill O’Brien

Q: What went into the decision to bring back Bill O’Brien?

Belichick: “I thought it was the best thing for the team.”

Q: Why was it the best thing for the team?

Belichick: “There’s a number of reasons.”

Q: Can you name one?

Belichick: “I have a good relationship with Bill. We go back a ways.”

Matt Patricia

Q: “Will Matt Patricia be working for the Patriots this year?

Belichick: “Not sure.”

Joe Judge

Q: How would you describe Joe Judge’s role on the staff?

Belichick: “Yeah, we’ll talk about the staff later on this spring.”

Jerod Mayo

Q: “Do you expect Jerod Mayo to have an additional title to his title of linebackers coach?

Belichick: “I don’t know.”
