Boston College trounced the Harvard 4-1 Tuesday night at TD Garden to claimed third place in the 46th annual Women’s Beanpot Tournament.

The Eagles dominated the first period and raced to a three-goal advantage. Their first score came when sophomore left wing Julia Pellerin took a shot from the low slot that nicked the glove of Ainsley Tuffy, the Crimson goaltender, and went over her left shoulder, her 13th goal on the year.

Three minutes later, sophomore defenseman Molly Jordan shot a laser from the high slot that whizzed behind Tuffy for her seventh goal of the season. With seven and a half minutes left senior wing Katie Pyne made a slick forehand, backhand, forehand move to fake out the goalie. This was Pyne’s second point of the period and her third goal of the season to move her Eagles up 3-0.

Harvard switched goalies to start the second period by relieving Tuffy in favor of junior Emily Davidson. The plan worked as the Crimson controlled much of the second period in offensive zone time. Neither team potted a goal in the middle frame, but Harvard did have an advantage in shots on goal with 11-8, after Boston College had a 9-5 upper hand in the first.

This did not continue in the third. After several minutes of mostly neutral zone play, BC went on the penalty kill and then scored short-handed; Alanna Devlin’s fourth goal of the year. Much of the third period was Boston College playing keepaway to drain the clock. Harvard was able to capitalize on a power-play goal with 5:38 left to avoid a shutout.

The 2025 Beanpot was the second women’s tournament hosted at the Garden. Both teams donned t-shirts post game that read “Everyone watches women’s sports.”

“For us to have this amount of fans it shows that it’s not a flash in the pan. And that is girls can give a great product of hockey,” said Harvard coach Laura Bellamy.

BC goalie Grace Campbell was also proud of the moment. “It’s cool to look in the stands and see girls watch us and we were in their shoes not too long ago. They hope to be us some day and we hope to grow the sport for them.”

Campbell saved 27 of 28 of the shots against her, while for the Crimson Davidson allowed one goal on 21 shots, and Tuffy stopped 6 of 9. This is the 15th third-place finish for the Eagles and the eighth fourth-place finish for the Crimson.
