NextImg:Battenfeld: Duplicitous Democrats question Sen. John Fetterman’s mental fitness

After hiding Joe Biden’s diminishing mental state for years, duplicitous Democrats have launched a smear campaign against one of their own – attacking moderate Sen. John Fetterman’s mental fitness because he has dared to challenge the party.

Liberal New York magazine published what Fetterman — who has been open about his depression –calls a “hit piece” interviewing former staffers who accuse him of becoming “erratic” and “almost impossible to work for” and walking into traffic one day.

“These were some of Fetterman’s truest believers, and they now question his fitness to be senator,” author Ben Terris wrote. “They worry he may present a risk to the Democratic Party and maybe even to himself.”

So Biden was fine but Fetterman, who suffered a stroke three years ago and was hospitalized with depression, has lost his mind?

A part of the accusations is true – the Pennsylvania senator has become a danger to the party because he has questioned its positions and accused it of moving too far to the left.

Fetterman voted for several of President Donald Trump’s nominees, like Attorney General Pam Bondi, and has been a fervent supporter of Israel in its war in Gaza against the terrorist group Hamas.

And because of that he’s now paying the price, taking punishment from liberals in what is clearly an attempt to take him out of the Senate.

It’s a familiar strategy from Democrats, who often try to portray Trump supporters as crazy because they are conservative. Fetterman is not the whackjob liberal Democrats want him to be, so they viciously smear him.

Maybe the Dems are taking cues from the Russian government, which puts dissidents in psychiatric hospitals.

“It’s a one-source story with a couple of anonymous sources, a hit piece from a very left publication,” Fetterman told NBC News when asked about the allegations.

“It’s incredibly invasive and why is anyone talking about anyone’s personal medical things?” he told CNN.

Good question.

Fetterman’s former chief of staff even wrote a letter to Fetterman’s doctor last year in which he questioned whether the senator was taking his medication.

“John frequently exhibits the kind of alarming behavior you told us to look out for when he was discharged (and has continued to do since we last talked in December),” former staffer Adam Jentleson said. “John appears to be off his recovery plan – at least mostly off it, and possibly entirely off it.”

Fetterman for the last year has been warning that the Democratic Party’s positions have alienated working people, but he is certainly not the only Democrat questioning the party’s strategy these days. It’s a shootout in the lifeboat.

Former Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, in a recent podcast, harshly criticized Democrats for being out of touch with ordinary people.

“They’re holding hearings and beating up people in hearings,” he said in what could be a slight directed at Sen. Elizabeth Warren. “They should be out in the community talking to people, not town halls, they should be out in coffee shops and other places talking to people.”

Walsh also described the “woke stuff” Democrats are supporting as reasons why Americans elected Donald Trump.

“People make up a decision to do something, whether to use the pronouns or whatever it might be, and like, all of a sudden the whole world has to do it,” he said in the podcast hosted by his former chief of staff, Dan Koh. “If you don’t do it, you’re wrong. That’s where the problem comes into play. If somebody doesn’t want to describe as he/him, they shouldn’t have to.”

Watch out Marty, liberal Democrats will now be coming after you, much like they attacked Rep. Seth Moulton for being too open about the party’s woke positions.

Walsh’s claims may be true, but should Democrats now be taking advice from the guy who endorsed Kamala Harris and helped pick vice presidential loser Tim Walz?
