A baby and its mother were found shot in Dorchester late last night in what the police commissioner is calling a “heinous” and “cowardly” act.
Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert at 11:39 p.m. on Monday to an address on Stratton Street and found an adult female and a “baby/toddler” suffering from gunshot wounds at an outside crime scene,” police said.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital. The baby’s injuries are considered life-threatening. The adult female has non-life-threatening injuries.
The “suspect/shooter” fled the scene and no arrests have been made, police added.
“This is a pretty heinous act in general, pretty cowardly,” Cox said of the shooting. “I can’t think of any reason why somebody would want to shoot a female and young child for any reason, so we really need the public’s help in this one.”
This is a developing story …
