


A worker was killed in an apparent construction accident in Swampscott on Monday after a problem was reported in a rock crusher, according to police who are investigating.
Swampscott Police received a 911 call at about 1 p.m., for a report of an issue in a rock crusher suspended above a quarry in the Aggregate Industries facility at 30 Danvers Road.
The worker was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identification is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
The death is being investigated by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit, Swampscott Police and the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
Such accidents are also investigated by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration and, often, the state Department of Industrial Accidents.
