The much anticipated, record-breaking “Eras” tour is finally just days away from hitting Gillette stadium, bringing with it astronomically-priced last-minute ticket sales for the Swifties still searching for a seat.
“Taylor is just like, a legend,” said 25-year-old Sydnie Dimond, a Norfolk native who’s attending one of the concerts with her parents and several friends. “I think that this concert is going to be one that truly goes down in history. We’ll be talking about it decades from now.”
The concerts will go for three nights from Friday to Sunday at the Gillette Stadium, featuring openers Phoebe Bridgers, GAYLE and Gracie Abrams.
For the stragglers still looking for tickets, the cheapest available on Stubhub are now going for just under $2,000. The most expensive — the last open front row seats in the stadium — hit over a staggering $16,000.
The concerts start at 6:30 p.m., the Patriots organization said in a release, but parking lots will open at 2:30 p.m. and gates at 4:30 p.m. — allowing for as much time as possible for legions of fans make it there and make their way inside.
Fans are “strongly encouraged” to allow themselves ample travel time, the release warned. The MBTA is also planning extra Commuter Rail trips from Providence and Boston on concert days.
The Boston concerts are immediately following a series of Philadelphia shows, which reportedly saw an unprecedented 20,000 fans gather outside the venue to listen to the singer.
“I’ve heard that (the venue) is doing a pretty good job with telling people not to come if they don’t have tickets,” said 24-year-old fan Jacob Sturtz, adding that Gillette “doesn’t really have the room” for fans to camp outside to that degree.
Dimond said she has several friends who will be looking for tickets outside of Gillette and are planning on listening from the nearby Patriot Place shopping center if they strike out.
The day tickets went on presale, Dimond said she ended up 384th in the queue and spent just 10 minutes buying them for her group. Sturtz ended up over 2,000th and spent four hours getting a seat for him and his sister. Hearing about the “Ticketmaster fiasco,” both said they felt lucky.
“It’s crazy to have the privilege to see her,” said Sturtz. … “She was always big, but now it seems like she’s just the number one star in the world to see.”
Even with the lure of potentially thousands in resale value, Dimond said, she wouldn’t sell her ticket “for the world.” Besides, she added, she would never upcharge another Swifty.
This will be the 13th, 14th and 15th time Swift has played the Gillette stadium, the Patriots release said. The stadium was the first Swift ever played, Dimond noted, and she’s said in the past it’s her favorite.
“I’m just really super excited, and I think that it’s gonna be a wonderful experience for everyone who can attend,” Dimond said. “And hopefully Taylor will be back around to Gillette soon.”
