Could the next co-host of the 98.5 The Sports Hub morning show be named on Tuesday?
Host Fred Toucher on Monday afternoon teased that a “big announcement” is coming on Tuesday’s show.
Loyal listeners have speculated for weeks about who will be the next co-host after Rich Shertenlieb left “Toucher and Rich” last month. Toucher has signed a multiyear contract to stay with the 98.5 morning show.
“Big announcement on the show tomorrow at 9am!!” Toucher posted on Monday.
Many have said that Rob “Hardy” Poole is the top candidate for the open position. Hardy has been the third chair on 98.5’s midday show “Zolak and Bertrand,” where he has played a key role in production.
Kendra Middleton, who has been making regular appearances on the morning show, has also been floated as the next co-host. She confirmed that she interviewed for the open position.
The new show is expected to start on Jan. 4.
“As the year winds down for this particular show, and we get all hopped up for January 4th fever, and where I’m quite confident this new show will launch,” Toucher said during Monday’s show. “You have read the Herald is covering it closely. Chad Finn from the Globe is covering it closely. It’s been on the news.”
