98.5 The Sports Hub’s Zolak and Bertrand will have a familiar voice as its full-time third chair.

After a few months without a full timer in the role, the midday show on Monday announced that Tim McKone will be filling the key third role.

McKone has been a part-timer on 98.5 for several years.

“After much deliberation and an extensive interview process and after many months, we have decided that we are going to let Tim McKone hang out here every single day with us going forward,” said host Marc Bertrand just before 11 a.m. on Monday.

“Stuffed in a locker by Zo five days a week,” McKone quipped as former Patriots QB Scott Zolak said, “That’s my boy!”

“Welcome Tim McKone to Zolak and Bertrand,” Bertrand added. “Tim McKone is going to be with us permanently here on Zolak and Bertrand.”

McKone said he was “fired up” to get the full-time role.

“I’ve been filling in with you guys for a long time obviously for like 10 years now, so this is my favorite show, top three favorite shows to work on,” he added, leading to laughs from the hosts. “I appreciate it. I’m looking forward to it. It’s exciting.”

The third chair opened up after Rob “Hardy” Poole moved to the mornings at the start of the year.

Hardy joined Fred Toucher following Rich Shertenlieb’s exit from the 98.5 morning show.

Several names had been floated for the midday third chair, including McKone, Joe Murray, Matt McCarthy, Phil Perry, Cerrone Battle, Kendra Middleton, Michael Holley, and Ryan Johnston.

Bertrand said, “Thank you to everybody who was in here, and was filling in since December.”
