NextImg:$5k reward offered for capture of 2023 Brockton Dollar Tree murder suspect

The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information on the whereabouts of suspected murderer Luis Soto, who authorities allege shot two men, one fatally, inside a Brockton Dollar Tree in 2023.

The call for information came on Thursday, Soto’s 35th birthday. Soto is wanted for murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and multiple firearms charges.

The Plymouth District Attorney’s office says that police responded to a call of gunshots at the Dollar Tree at 999 North Montello St. in Brockton a little before 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2023. There they found two men suffering gunshot injuries, who were then transported to Good Samaritan Hospital.

One of those men, Dongbin Pyon, 38, of East Boston, died.

Authorities say Soto had walked into the store, where he was formerly employed, with a handgun and fired 16 shots.

Prosecutors say that Soto fled the store after the shooting. His car was found abandoned in Newton days following the murder. Soto is described as 5-foot-10, 190 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair and tattoos on his neck, chest and both arms.

Those with information are asked to call the U.S. Marshals at 1-877-WANTED2 (926-8332) or the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section at 1-800-KAPTURE (527-8873). The Marshals Service says the reward is for a top with “actionable intelligence which leads to the location and apprehension of Soto.”
