A 15-year-old male was arrested in connection with a shooting and armed robbery in Mattapan before Christmas, Boston Police reported Thursday.
Just after midnight on Dec. 23, officers responded to a report of a shooting on Wilbert Road in Mattapan. At the scene, officers were advised that the victim had fled the scene in a vehicle and headed towards Blue Hill Ave.
The police found the vehicle and an adult man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside, BPD said. The man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No suspect was immediately located, Boston Police said, and officers canvassed the area, locating ballistic evidence at the scene.
At around 2 p.m. New Year’s Eve, a 15-year-old male suspect was arrested in the area of Cummings Highway on a warrant in connection with the shooting.
The suspect was wanted on several firearms charges, armed robbery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, BPD reported.
The unnamed minor is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
In a separate incident early on Wednesday, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the area along Washington Street in Roxbury. The responding cops began to search the area for any victims, witnesses or suspects involved with the gunshot.
Moving down Washington Street towards Roxbury Street, the police found a group of people in the street, BPD said. As the officers approached, the police said they saw a single man begin to walk away along the Roxbury Street sidewalk.
The man bent down beside a parked car, police said, and then began to walk back toward the group. The officers approached the spot and stated they found a discarded firearm on the ground behind the vehicle.
The suspect, identified as Marcel Barrows, 34, of Roxbury, was placed under arrest at the scene, BPD said. The cops said during a search of the area they also recovered a plastic bag of cocaine, weighing about seven grams.
The firearm found was later identified as a Taurus .38 Revolver loaded with five rounds and one spent shell casing, police said.
Police did not immediately provide further details about the shooting.
Barrows faces firearms charges, including discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and possession with intent to distribute Class B.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
