On January 13, 2024, David Fischer, the former Co-Chair of the Republican Party of Iowa endorsed Vivek Ramaswamy for president.
He tweeted about his support for Ramaswamy by citing the entrepreneur’s restrained foreign policy platform:
I endorse @VivekGRamaswamy for President. America First: Stop the last war. Stop the next war. Watch my #IACaucus video message to Iowa Republicans. David Fischer Iowa Co-Chairman, Ron Paul 2008+2012 Iowa Co-Chairman, Rand Paul 2016 Past Co-Chair, Republican Party of Iowa.
In the video message, Fischer highlighted his pro-liberty Republican credentials by noting that he was former Congressman Ron Paul’s Iowa Co-Chairman in 2008 and 2012. He was also Kentucky Senator Rand Paul’s Iowa Co-Chariman in 2016.
Fischer specifically highlighted Ramaswamy’s opposition to the ruling class’s perpetual war agenda, his staunch support for Free speech rights, and willingness to clean up corruption in government as several reasons for endorsing him in the Republican primaries:
Today I endorse Vivek Ramaswamy for president.
Why? America First. Stop the last war, stop the next war. Stop the invasion at our borders. Stop the politicized and weaponized justice system. He’s a First Amendment absolutist, a Second Amendment absolutist, He’ll expose the deep state. He’ll expose the big money war machine, expose the activist media, expose the money printers who drive up the cost of everything by wrecking our money.
He’ll cut some government and then he’ll cut more, not because he wants people to have less, because he wants people to have more freedom, more genuine prosperity, and more peace.
Ramaswamy is one of the more solid options in the GOP primary for the 2024 presidential election cycle. As an outsider who is skeptical of DC politics, Vivek is willing to stir the pot on issues such as immigration and foreign policy.
This kind of dissident energy is greatly needed during a time when people are losing faith in the political system. While Ramaswamy will likely not win, his ideas will continue to gain traction across the political spectrum as he uses candidacy as a vehicle to disseminate his dissident ideas.
