NextImg:Attorneys General Nationwide Urge Biden Regime to Protect Ammunition Plants

Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen is leading a coalition in urging the Biden regime to keep a notable commercial ammunition manufacturing plant open after a request by Democrat attorneys general to launch an investigation into the facility, which would stop production. Closing the plant would reduce the ammunition supply and threaten national security.

In the letter sent on February Wednesday to President Biden and White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention Director Stefanie Feldman, Attorney General Knudsen stood against the requests by Democrats to launch an investigation into the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant and criticized them for their misleading attempts to connect the plant to mass shootings. In his view, the allegations do not justify imposing strict limitations on the plant and negatively impact the Second Amendment because an individual can’t exercise their right to bear arms without having access to ammunition.

“The Biden administration and Democrats are treading dangerous ground. They will apparently stop at nothing to keep Americans from exercising their right to keep and bear arms, even if it means diminishing ammunition production capabilities and undermining our national security,” Attorney General Knudsen declared. “Worse yet, their latest effort to shut down the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant is based on a highly questionable ‘investigation’ by the New York Times.”

Duncan Johnson of AmmoLand noted that the Lake City plant plays a critical role in keeping the nationwide ammunition supply chain up and running. Moreover, the plant has a well-established contract with the United States Department of Defense that allows the facility to be used by the agency for the purpose of bolstering national defense,

“We need to be primed at any moment to increase production and provide our military with much-needed ammunition to provide protection domestically and to our international allies. Lake City remains a vital part of the past, present, and future of the U.S. Military and military readiness. Rather than pushing Lake City out of business, we should be thanking them for the role they play in arming our military,” the attorneys general wrote in the letter.

“Rather than punishing criminals who perpetrate gun violence, Democrats are attempting to punish the firearms and ammunition industry and are putting the safety of armed Americans trying to protect themselves from violent crime at risk,” they added.

“We strongly advise against heeding the Democrat attorneys general request to investigate Lake City. There are no allegations of wrongdoing that could justify placing such unreasonable limits on Lake City or any other firearm, parts, or ammunition manufacturer. If this course continues, we intend to take any and every action necessary to defend our citizens’ Second Amendment rights,” the attorneys general said in their concluding remarks .

Attorneys general from Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming and the North Carolina legislature signed on to the letter which was co-authored by Indiana, Iowa, and Missouri.

The gun control crowd understands the scope and breadth of the Second Amendment fight. It’s not just gun control measures that impact people’s individual right to bear arms that pose a threat to the Second Amendment, but also measures designed to attack the gun industry.

It bears repeating: gun rights activists must be willing to defend all facets of the right to bear arms. If they are unable to do so, you can kiss our rights goodbye.
