The arraignment is scheduled for 2:15 Eastern.
There's not much news at the moment but there will be over the next hour. I'll update the post as news breaks.
Trump moved to have cameras present in the courthouse. I understand his thinking: If it's all hidden, the media will make up stories to make him look as bad as possible, and there will be no definitive proof to contradict their lies. Thus cameras help him -- yes, the images aren't great for him, but they're better than the lies the media will tell.
So of course the judge, who seems to have a grudge against Trump from a prior case, denied his motion.
He ruled that the integrity of the court's impartiality outweighed the "monumental significance" of the case and the "unparalleled public interest" it has generated.
Merchan went on to affirm that members of the media will be allowed to enter the courtroom, but electronic items like cellphones would not be permitted.
The media will be permitted to lie, and nothing will be permitted in the courtroom that can contradict the media' lies. Perfect. Just what I would have expected from a Regime "judge."
We'll see if he attempts to unconstitutionally impose a gag order on the man best positioned (at the current moment, largely due to this arrest) be the GOP contender for the presidency.
Isn't it fun watching the Regime decide who is allowed to run, and who is allowed to speak?
