Summing up: Effectively, it's amnesty for all illegal aliens present in the US, except for a small number of convicted criminals.

The basic way to understand Maria Salazar's amnesty bill is this:

If you came in to the country before Biden was inaugurated, you get to stay.

If you were under 18 when you came into the country, for whatever reason - you get a 4-year path to citizenship.

If you were over 18, you get what is effectively permanent residency with no path to citizenship, and you don't have to pay payroll taxes.

Not joking. The only deportable aliens will be criminal aliens and aliens that came in under Biden. Everyone else gets to stay.

You were told that Dreamer status was for those unfortunate people brought to the United States as young children.

Not so. If you came on your own volition as a 17-year-old, you're a Dreamer under her bill.

????WARNING -- There are a handful of Republicans in Congress pushing the so-called "Dignity Act of 2025" which would shield illegals from deportation if they've been in the US since before 2021.

Here's the trick: We do NOT know when many, or perhaps most, illegals entered the US. All they'd have to do is say the magic words and they'd be allowed to stay. At best their case would be bogged down in court for years. This is a ruse. Do not fall for it. This will grind President Trump's mass deportations to a halt.

This is worse than "soft amnesty." This de facto ends the mass deportations Americans just voted for.

Salazar claims she would not grant amnesty to MS-13 or Tren de Aragua gang members.

But that's a lie. While the bill does say that members of foreign criminal or terrorist gangs aren't eligible for amnesty, it then goes on to specifically forbid the government from searching its databases to discover if the applicant is a member of a foreign criminal gang or not:

I want to focus on one particularly brazen provision in Maria Salazar's amnesty bill. She made a huge point of saying "gang members won't be admissible!" And, indeed, there is a provision that says if you "voluntarily participated in offenses committed by a criminal street gang" you will be ineligible for either the Dreamer path to citizenship or the adult path to permanent residency.

But in THE VERY NEXT PROVISION, the legislation bars DHS from using state and federal databases to prove that someone is a gang member. Apparently, they have to actually get convicted of a criminal gang offense - WHICH WOULD ALREADY MAKE THEM INADMISSIBLE BECAUSE FELONIES AND VIOLENT MISDEMEANORS DO SO ON THEIR OWN.

Remember how Democrats say illegal aliens never vote in our elections? Well, apparently, @RepMariaSalazar doesn't agree with them, since her amnesty bill allows DHS to waive the provision of law that makes an alien inadmissible to the US if they have unlawfully voted. So, even illegal aliens who have illegally voted in our elections can qualify for her amnesty! It's on page 165 of her bill.

Will Chamberlain says that even "Maryland Man" -- and MS-13 human trafficker -- Albrego-Garcia is eligible for amnesty.

All he'd have to do is sign up for classes in a trade school, or be employed for three of four years.

Well, yeah, it should. The problem is that the bill actively bars law enforcement from using federal or state gang databases to determine whether someone is a gang member.
