NextImg:THE MORNING RANT: Having Conquered the Bourgeoisie, Western Leftists are Now Rebelling Against the Proletariat

The globalist elite have successfully undermined most western traditions, including family and Christianity, and having also slayed the bourgeoisie, it is now rebelling against the proletariat. The ruling class’ current battle is an effort to eradicate the lifestyle of a lower class of people that it finds distasteful for how they choose to live, and for refusing to properly conform to the new order.

There have been a couple of outstanding essays recently addressing this, including a Michael Lind piece that was just published, which I will discuss shortly.

But as a lead-in, I want to quickly re-visit a John Hayward essay that Ace published a couple days ago. It included these excellent points:

Today the Party's extremists are talking about shutting down agriculture in the name of global warming. They'll kill countless people and destroy the American way of life without a second thought, because they know THEY will eat well, and they won't be eating bugs.

They've already unleashed killer crime waves on YOU, because they know THEY have armed protection and privileged homes. They wrecked the economy with foolish policies because they know THEY will be taken care of. This process is accelerating, and Hunter is a major milestone.

We urgently need to shatter elite privilege, force them to live in the same world as we do, and make them understand that not even the silver-spoon sons of corrupt political dynasties get to live above the law anymore. Nothing less will make the elite receptive to reform.

Now here is the Michael Lind piece that is the best explainer I have read about the ruling class’ war on the rest of us. Please click on the link and read the whole thing. There are no wasted words.

Michael Lind: The Culture of Transgression [Tablet – 7/31/2023]

Mr. Lind brilliantly explains how the elite’s war against tradition has morphed into a war against middle class wage earners and the working class. He uses a term that is new to me, “antinomian,” which can be defined simply as a rejection of all moral, religious, and social traditions.

The key point is that the “transgressive” ruling class has conquered most every legacy institution, but they are locusts who only know how to destroy. They are not trying to build a new order, they just seek to destroy all of the old order, and the working class is the last redoubt that hasn’t been conquered, so it is now the target.

At the moment, the fashionable justifications invoked by the elite antinomian vandals attacking Western society from within are climate change, anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-homophobia, and “anti-fascism” as a catchall category. Upper-middle-class young men and women who throw paint at artistic masterpieces or glue themselves to trains claim they are defending the earth’s environment, but they could just as well say they are fighting white supremacy or patriarchy.

In other words, vandalism is the virtue. The cause is just an excuse.

They are acting out the ethos of a Western elite culture that believes the act of transgression itself is virtuous; the alleged goal of the transgression is merely an excuse.

Humans as a species are inherently religious and patriotic. Having killed off Christianity and loyalty to the nation-state, the transgressives have imposed a new set of saints, icons, and sacraments that must be celebrated.

The three saints of transgression are the illegal immigrant, the transsexual, and the woman who proudly celebrates abortion. All three are idealized by our revolutionary ruling class precisely because they violate traditional norms—the traditional norm of patriotism, based on the legitimacy of the city-state or nation-state or kingdom and its laws and borders; traditional gender norms; and traditional family norms, which celebrate the capacity of women to give birth and to nurture their infants and of men to provide for them. Most of what is called “progressivism” today is really transgressivism.

We often talk about the left’s “march through the institutions,” but most of us on the right still never expected corporate America and those who enjoy the prosperity of capitalism to become far-left enforcers of cultural communism, with an open hostility to so many of its customers. But corporations, along with any other institution that has influence and money, have become agents of the revolution against family, faith, and patriotism.

By now the antinomians in Western nations have won their war against tradition in every realm. The members of the credentialed corporate-government-nonprofit-academic-media oligarchy, along with billionaire entrepreneurs and bankers who themselves are usually born into managerial-professional families, are almost all modernist in their aesthetics, libertine in their views of sex and recreational drug use, and dismissive of nationalism and patriotism and religion, which they regard as mental diseases of the lower classes.

Our overlords mock our patriotism and faith, yet they demand that we “celebrate” their causes and display the banners to which they profess fealty.

Having vandalized every premodern tradition, the elite antinomians of the modern West now don’t know what to do next. What should rebels against the bourgeoisie rebel against when the bourgeoisie has fallen?

Who is left for the anti-western vandals to target? The target now is you, me, and how we live our daily lives.

The answer, it is increasingly apparent, is to rebel against the proletariat. Instead of shocking the bourgeoisie, our post-bourgeois managerial overclass now delights in shocking the working class. Most working class people in the U.S. and Europe of all races and classes live in suburbs or exurbs—therefore our elite pundits and academics constantly denounce suburban “sprawl,” idealize life in high-style micro-apartments and expensive designer tiny houses, and call for the replacement of cars by mass transit.

They’re not coming for our cars and our single-family homes because we’re harming the planet or altering the climate with them. They’re coming after our cars and homes because they want to deprive us of not only the pleasures in life, but also the necessities of life.

And they’re not just coming for our cars and homes, they’re coming for every appliance we use. They never stop. They never rest. And their appetite for punishing normal people’s daily lives is insatiable. It has nothing to do with the environment.

Many working class people like to cook with natural gas, so naturally our elite seeks to ban gas stoves. Gasoline-powered lawn mowers and leaf blowers? Forget it. California will ban gasoline-powered lawn equipment in 2024. Rising incomes that accompany development allow the masses to eat meat; therefore meat is redefined by the oligarchy as unhealthy and harmful to “the planet.”

Whatever working-class “normies” believe and enjoy, the most influential tastemakers of the trans-Atlantic ruling class denounce and seek to ban…

The zeal to ban everything is ultimately a desire to ban our normal lives altogether. Fortunately, we can still fight back at the ballot box, right? Sure, so long as we don’t prevail. If that happens, our ballot box success is a “threat to democracy.”

To add insult to injury, when the multiracial working class rebels at the ballot box against this unrelenting and unprovoked bullying by the overclass and casts protest votes for demagogic and usually ineffectual anti-establishment politicians like Silvio Berlusconi or Donald Trump or Boris Johnson, the elite denounces the protest voters as irrational and bigoted cretins who threaten to overthrow democracy, liberalism, and the rule of law. By declaring the democratic preferences of the working class a danger to society, the West’s oligarchs justify subjecting their enemies to pervasive surveillance and other counterextremism measures originally designed for foreign terrorist groups.

No revolution ever stays in a permanent state of rebellion, and the longer it does so, the more likely it is that its leaders will soon be the ones rebelled against. The anti-western globalists may think they can keep their paramilitary rebels permanently on the attack against normies, but there will come a day when there is no one left for the rebels to target but their globalist overlords.

When the current rebellion by the managerial elite against the proletariat is exhausted, as the rebellion against the bourgeoisie was exhausted generations ago, there will be nothing left to rebel against except rebellion itself.

Klaus, Gates, Kerry et al may enjoy persecuting those of us just trying to quietly lead a normal life, but they have unleashed a monster that they can no longer tame.

We are hostages, then, of a trans-Atlantic ruling class which in turn is the prisoner of its own culture of perpetual antinomianism, of ceaseless rebellion, of never-ending transgression. The question is whether the state and capitalism, on which the overclass depends for its power and wealth, can maintain their legitimacy, now that Western elite antinomians—often through government agencies or corporations or banks they control—wage campaigns to wipe out the last autonomous institutions and inherited traditions in civil society.

The best outcome for all parties would be that this current cultural revolution burns itself out like a nasty tire fire. But for now, it looks more like a wildfire that will ultimately consume everything in its path. I hope not.
