NextImg:Revealed: Former Acting Head of the CIA Mike Morrell Concocted the "Hallmarks of Russian Intelligence" Disinformation Campaign... Just to Give Biden a Rebuttal About the Laptop at the Trump-Biden Debate

People need to go to prison for this.

Notice we spent seven years talking about a Fake Russian Intelligence Election-Interference Campaign -- but the media refuses to spend any time at all discussing a Very Real US Intelligence Election-Interference Campaign.

A recruitment email sent by Mike Morell, co-author of the infamous Hunter Biden laptop letter, wanted former intelligence officials to become signatories to help give Joe Biden a "talking point" during a crucial presidential debate against Donald Trump.

The revelation comes after Morell, the former Obama CIA acting director, admitted that now-Secretary of State Antony Blinken "triggered" him to write the October 2020 laptop letter.

The recruitment email from Morell was sent to former intelligence officials and included the laptop letter co-authored by him and former senior CIA operations officer Marc Polymeropoulos as an attachment.

The quoted language from the Morell email, sent on Oct. 18, 2020, was read to the Washington Examiner verbatim and identically by two independent sources who had access to the email.

Morell's email explained that both he and Polymeropoulos believed Russia was involved in the Hunter Biden laptop stories and that Trump likely planned to attack Biden over the laptop revelations in the upcoming debate.

"We want to give the VP a talking point to use in response," Morell wrote, the two sources confirmed to the Washington Examiner.

Morell has previously testified that one of the reasons he helped put the letter together was to help Joe Biden "because I wanted him to win the election."

Mark Zaid, an attorney representing Polymeropoulos and a number of other laptop letter signers, also told the media last month that "when the draft was sent out to people to sign, the cover email made clear that it was an effort to help the Biden campaign."

...

Last month it was revealed Morell told House investigators he had no intention to write the laptop letter, but admitted his phone call with Blinken, then a top advisor for Biden's 2020 campaign, "triggered" him to do so. Morell said it was his "guess" Blinken called him because the future secretary of state wanted it "out" in public that "the Russians were somehow involved."

Meanwhile, via Ed Morrissey at Hot Air: Even Joe Biden's corrupt White House is queasy over Hunter Biden's plans to set up a fundraiser to pay for his legal bills.

With funds that will come, I'm pretty sure, largely from China.

Top aides to President Biden have clashed with Hunter Biden's team over strategies for dealing with the legal battles and Republican attacks that surround the president's son.

Why it matters: The tensions led Hunter -- without involving the president's top aides -- to hire prominent lawyer Abbe Lowell in December, as part of a plan to take a more combative approach than the White House and Hunter's previous lawyer had taken.

Hunter's team also is moving toward creating a legal defense fund, and hiring ethics advisers for it. High-level Democrats and others are worried about the idea of the president's son soliciting money to pay for his legal troubles.

"For this fund to work, it must be extraordinarily transparent and even restrictive by prohibiting foreign citizens and registered lobbyists from contributing," Anthony Coley, the former top spokesman for the Justice Department who was senior adviser to Attorney General Merrick Garland, told Axios.<

"Without these type of guardrails, the fund will be a legitimate headache for the White House."

Well, based on past experience, I'm sure Hunter Biden will be very, very restrictive about which foreign governments can give him millions of unearned dollars.

...

Zoom out: Hunter's team has shifted from largely not commenting on GOP attacks or stories in conservative tabloids to publicly fighting back.

...

The White House press team has been wary of commenting on Hunter, preferring to distance President Biden from the legal matters involving his son as a private citizen.

Really? You don't say?

Exclusive: Must credit Axios. Corrupt president doesn't like commenting on his crackhead bagman son.

State of play: Hunter's team and allies have not made a final decision on whether to move forward with a legal defense fund, according to people familiar with the matter.

But supporters of President Biden have been approached for potential roles with the fund, in communications and ethics oversight.

Via Jazz Shaw at Hot Air: House Democrats are now claiming that any mentions of Biden's classified documents scandal is "racist," because the woman Biden used to pack the documents and move them to Chinatown is herself Chinese, and of course the Democrats are now openly saying that you are just not allowed to accuse any minority of complicity in any crime, ever.

We've moved a long way away from "equal treatment under the law," huh?

House Oversight committee Democrats are attempting to shift the blame away from President Biden and his family for the classified documents found in his home and office while also saying statements on the matter by committee GOP Chairman James Comer regarding former Biden aide Kathy Chung are "xenophobic" and "racist."

Committee Democrats released the 16-page memo Wednesday to show "the extent to which Committee Republicans have lied about Ms. Chung, including the purpose of her position in the White House," said Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin, the panel's top Democrat.

...

The memo includes excerpts from a transcribed interview that Comer, a Kentucky Republican, held with Chung last month. It also states that Comer "made absurd statements misrepresenting" Chung's position in the Obama administration, in which Biden was the vice president, and he "amplified baseless, xenophobic, and racist conspiracy theories" about Chung on the news while "incorrectly" claiming that she provided "startling" information during the interview.

The memo also states Chung testified that no one from the Biden family was involved in packing nor did they instruct her on what to pack.

...

However, while the memo appears to try to take away the blame from Biden and Chung, it doesn't say who was responsible.

Republicans have expressed concerns for months that Democrats would try to shift blame for the classified documents scandal away from Biden to Chung, The New York Post reported.

So: First they say you can't blame Joe Biden, it was Kathy Chung who packed the documents without any Biden family members supervising.

Then, having laid off the blame on Chung, the follow-up with: And you can't blame Kathy Chung, because she's a Protected Minority and Minorities Have a Constitutional Right to Commit Crimes, Period.
