Trump is meeting with Vought to decide which agencies to slash next.
President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that he would be meeting with Vought "to determine which of the many Democrat Agencies, most of which are a political SCAM, he recommends to be cut, and whether or not those cuts will be temporary or permanent." While the government may be shut down, deportations are continuing. Trump secured full funding for ICE in a previous bill.
Even with the government shut down, ICE agents aren't stopping. "We will continue to remove the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said Wednesday, crediting President Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill" for ensuring deportations and law enforcement operations stay fully funded and active nationwide.

McLaughlin told the Daily Caller News Foundation that ICE operations would not pause "despite a lapse in funding," stressing that violent offenders -- including rapists, murderers, and terrorists -- would still be removed from the country.
The Department of Homeland Security cited the One Big Beautiful Bill, President Trump's sweeping reform package, as the reason ICE is able to continue hiring, training, and deploying law enforcement nationwide.
On Tuesday alone, ICE agents arrested multiple convicted illegal migrants, including child predators in Texas and California, a murderer in Los Angeles, a Guatemalan national convicted of assault in Massachusetts, and a Chinese smuggler.
