NYC begins handing out prepaid debit cards to migrants in controversial program

The Adams administration launched its program to give prepaid debit cards to New York City migrants this week -- two months after inking a controversial no-bid $53 million contract for the deal.

Staffers with the New Jersey company, Mobility Capital Finance, handed out eight preloaded Mastercards at the Roosevelt Hotel on Monday as part of its pilot program that will expand to 115 cards by next week, according to a City Hall spokesperson.

...

The administration scaled back the original plan, which would have loaded up the cards with a month's worth of money for food and baby supplies. Cash will now need to be replenished each week.

...

A family with two parents and kids under five will receive about $350 a week, the spokesperson said.

...

The pilot program will cover about 460 out of the 64,500 migrants in the city's care as City Hall evaluates its success.

"This cost-saving measure will replace the city's current system of providing non-perishable food boxes to migrant families staying in hotels, much of which is often discarded," Adams spokesperson Kayla Mamalek said.

Giving people free money = a cost-saving measure.

Every red state governor must give a press statement about this, to get the word out to all illegals that New York City is handing out free money to illegals.

In Michistan, Gretchen the Witch is facing backlash for handing out free cash to illegals. Such programs are already unpopular, and become radioactive when one of the illegals you've been paying to illegally reside in your state turns around and murders a US citizen.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is facing backlash over a controversial program that provides rental subsidies to migrants, following the murder of a woman allegedly by an illegal immigrant. Critics argue that the program, which offers up to $500 to landlords renting to migrants, compromises the safety of Michigan communities.

Michigan's "Newcomer Rental Subsidy" program, designed to increase access to affordable housing for refugees and other newcomers, has come under fire following the alleged murder of a woman by an illegal immigrant. The program, which provides rental assistance to landlords renting to migrants, has been criticized for potentially compromising the safety of Michigan communities.

High-profile crimes committed by illegal immigrants, including the recent murder in Michigan, have heightened these concerns. The accused, Brandon Ortiz-Vite, an illegal immigrant who was deported to Mexico in 2020, has been charged with felony murder, open murder, carjacking, carrying a concealed weapon, and felony use of a firearm.

Meanwhile, the Fifth Circuit has again blocked Texas S.B. 4, which makes illegal aliens criminal under Texas state law, from going into effect.

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals handed down the 2-1 ruling regarding Senate Bill 4 on Tuesday night, just a week after it had previously blocked the law, which -- if enforced -- would allow law enforcement in Texas to arrest suspected illegal immigrants and allow state judges to deport them. The court noted that this tends to be the jurisdiction of the federal government.

"The broadest exercise of federal discretion is the Executive's decision not to pursue either civilly or criminally the very noncitizens whom Texas has drawn a bead upon in enacting new state laws. The discretion to pursue these same noncitizens likely lies exclusively with the Executive," Chief Judge Priscilla Richman wrote.

She cited a 2023 U.S. v. Texas case in which the Lone Star State and neighboring Louisiana challenged the Biden Administration's guidelines regarding the arrest and removal of non-citizens, reiterating the authority lies with the Executive Branch.

In court, Texas has argued the law mirrors the U.S. government's immigration enforcement. The Justice Department has argued that it is a clear violation of federal authority and would create chaos at the border.

LOL, we certainly wouldn't want "chaos at the border."

OMG, are they serious?

Meanwhile, the House formally delivers articles of impeachment against DHS Secretary Mayorkas to the pro-crime Democrats in the Senate.

House Speaker Mike Johnson is set to formally hand over the impeachment articles against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to the Senate next month. Johnson has urged Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to hold a trial "expeditiously."

House Speaker Mike Johnson has informed Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer that the impeachment articles against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas will be sent to the Senate on April 10, 2024.

The House impeached Mayorkas last month on two counts, accusing him of failing to comply with and enforce existing law, along with a breach of public trust.

Once the articles are formally handed off, the Senate must act on them swiftly. Senate Republicans have called for Schumer to go through with the proceedings.
