Before getting to that, check out this typically-well-informed liberal bitch brainlet:
Billy Baldwin
@BillyBaldwin
If you were on trial and the jury went into deliberations to determine your verdict and you said...
"I don't even know what the charges are?"
Do you think you are competent enough to be the President of the United States?
Trump says "The whole world is watching."
Outside the courthouse, Trump stated, "Everyone's against this case. I haven't seen one legal scholar...say that this case should've been filed...It's 7-years-old...Bragg turned it down, then he rejuvenated it when I was running for office--at the request of Biden." He added, "I just want to say that this is a very sad day for America. The whole world is watching...the whole system is rigged."
The jury is asking for specific parts of the trial transcript to be read back to them:
Jonathan Turley
@JonathanTurley
...They are now reading a different portion of Pecker's cross examination. Pecker said it was "easy to say" that he would continue his practice on running interference on these stories. Pecker admitted that at the key meeting there was no discussion of a "catch and kill" effort. He also said that the Stormy Daniels story was not part of the August 15 meeting. (This was the line, I believe, that the prosecutors wanted to keep out on the rereading). Pecker confirmed again that there was no discussion of a catch and kill or payment for any stories.
This concerns the buried story about another woman claiming she slept with Trump, not the Clown Car Vagina whore Sloppy Daniels:
Jonathan Turley
@JonathanTurley
...They are reading the Pecker testimony where Trump said do not buy the story and Trump said that he does not believe that such purchases stop stories from getting out. He then said Michael Cohen would get back to Pecker.
The jury is also asking about what facts can be legally inferred from other facts. Interestingly, they seem to be asking if they can completely ignore Michael Cohen's testilying:
Jonathan Turley
@JonathanTurley
...The judge is again instructing that the jury can discharge the entirety of the testimony of a witness who has lied previously or in the testimony.
That could apply to Sloppy Daniels too.
Andrew Weissman, the insanely partisan Democrat hatchet-man who really led the "Mueller" investigation, declared that he has a "man-crush" on the lawless corrupt judge Merchan.
So now you have a better idea of Weisman's idea of ethics.
By the way, Merchan has broke with all tradition and refused to provide the jury with written instructions for the 34 counts with three different Choose Your Own Adventure possible predicate crimes.
He wants the jury thinking vaguely -- "Just convict Trump if you don't like him." There is no other reason to hide the instructions from the jury.
@AGAndrewBailey
This is insanity.
I've tried many jury trials in my day. You give jurors paper instructions every time.
How are 12 jurors supposed to remember the elements necessary for each of the 34 felony counts?
This is an illicit, witch-hunt prosecution.
Update: The NYT claims this is standard New York procedure. Insane. And who knows if this garbage-fire propaganda sheet is telling the truth or spinning again for Merchan.
JD Vance wants a DOJ investigation into Andrew Weisman's man-crush's "clearly illegal" gag order.
Senator JD Vance (R-OH) has called on the U.S. Department of Justice to open a criminal investigation into Judge Juan Merchan for alleged illegal deprivation of President Donald J. Trump's First Amendment rights. Vance argues that Merchan's conduct, including the imposition of a gag order and refusal to dismiss biased jurors, could amount to criminal deprivation of rights violations.
Key Details:
Senator Vance's call for investigation is based on Judge Merchan's conduct against President Trump, which includes the imposition of a gag order, refusal to dismiss prospective jurors with anti-Trump bias, and barring of exculpatory evidence.
Merchan's actions could potentially violate 18 U.S. C. 241--42, which criminalize conspiracies to "injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate" others from enjoying their federally protected rights and prohibit any person acting under color of law from depriving individuals of their rights under the Constitution and federal law.
Merchan's daughter Loren, a fundraiser for Democratic officials and organizations, is considered a potential beneficiary of Merchan's biased rulings, having helped her clients raise $93 million from donors during Trump's trial in New York.
