It is obvious that the October 7th pogrom has caused a sea change in the Israeli psyche...both among the people and, more importantly, among many of its politicians. Decoupling Israel's legitimate security interests from the geopolitics that have pushed the country to take half measures and carefully titrated responses to threats that any other country on earth would have tried to destroy, is long overdue.
Whether that lasts remains to be seen, but the blinders are off. And sadly, the current American administration has shown that it is no longer a trusted partner and ally, pushing for the status quo ante bellum so that its plans for Iranian hegemony in the Middle East can move forward.
The news that Biden may have given implicit approval for the Iranian attack is disgusting, but not surprising. The assumption is that Israel will return to its failed policy of half measures, by choice or by pressure.
Israel to carry out 'limited' strike within Iran, according to a U.S. official
According to the American news channel, officials within U.S. President Joe Biden's administration are expecting Israel to make this decision but have not been sharing its "targeting."
Prior to leaving to carry out the attack, the suspect posted on social media that, "The most important thing is that I end my life with satisfaction, because there is no fulfillment other than paradise."
Israel and Judaism values life as a gift. It is precious. Islam sees it as a tool.
