We continue to learn more about how different the right and left are at present, and perhaps how small the center is becoming. I have been trying to read a little more deeply.
Neo has a post up this morning on Speech as incitement. (h/t Skip)
Ace covers a few examples on the left here.
I suggest you go to the link and read it. It’s impossible to summarize.
But here’s one instance [emphasis mine]:
Meanwhile: the left has been promoting Cenk Uygur’s nephew …… [H]e’s been celebrated by all the organs of leftist propaganda: Politico, CNN, the New York Times. He’s the Bro Whisperer for the left, and they want to make him famous.
What they don’t tell their readers, of course, is that he has been calling for the murder of Republicans (including Tom Cotton) and celebrating terrorist violence for years.
This is no fringe nobody. He is the biggest political streamer in the world, making millions of dollars, feted by the Democrat Party as the guy who is going to deliver them the young male vote again.
He urges his listeners to “gut” Republians and “shank” them: “You have to shank these motherfers so that their intestines writhe upon the stage! Slice ’em up! Slice ’em and fin’ dice ’em!”
He also urges his followers to murder property owners, shouting “Kill them! Kill those motherfers! Murder those motherfers in the street! Let the streets soak in their red capitalist blood, dude!”
Bloodcurdling.
Check through Neo's comments:
Those on the right that have been paying attention are well aware of how much the activist committed leftists hate them. What few of us were aware of is how extensive and widespread the activist hard core leftist networks have become and how deep the left’s ideology has entrenched itself among the young.
That’s coming to light and the left’s celebration of murder reveals just how deranged they’ve become. One way or another, it will not end well for them.
Astonishingly violent language from the left is not the only content in Ace's post. I suggest reading it carefully, again:
Some of you may be free speech absolutists. Maybe so. But let me ask you: Do you think if you threw out these constant demands for the murder of liberals and Democrats and socialists, the NY Times and Politico would praise and promote you?
Do you think Jeff Bezos' Twitch would platform you and allow you to make literal millions of dollars for praising terrorist murder?
Because I sure don't.
If I don't have that right, neither does the left. Period.
Neo also has a nice, compact piece on Jimmy Kimmel as a martyr. If you have a rare, reasonable centrist friend who isn't into snark, hers is a fine summery to pass along.
But Ace has been on fire, and his Week in the Woke Terrorist Murder Cult is much more colorful.
I have remained bothered by the left's desperate desire to characterize the assassin as a "groyper", based partly, I think, on the Italian antifascist folk song 'Bella Ciao' on a groyper song list. Those ironic groypers!
Ace referenced a Substack piece by Nate Silver (who thinks the political mood resembles that after 9/11) in which Silver links an Axios piece (behind a paywall) which suggests that the left was unsuccessful in this quest at groyperification. Though it seems to remain a fixture of Jimmy Kimmel's thinking, apparently.
I was also surprised to hear this theory repeated on talk radio just a couple of days ago by a normally reasonable (not conservative) guy while he was discussing the very odd, theatrical text exchanges between the suspected assassin and his "roommate".
Meanwhile, some strange internet links to furry and trans groups have come to light, though the "roommate" professed total ignorance before the assassination. These connections are not discussed too critically on the left.
I have read about people asking if there has been a liberal who, like Charlie Kirk, has been willing to engage members of The Left in conversation. At least one such liberal has -- Peter Boghossian. And he lost his university job.
Time for homeschooling?

Hope you have something nice planned for this weekend.
