NextImg:Gina Carano Sues Disney, Alleging Political Discrimination, Sex Discrimination, and Defamation;LAWSUIT IS BEING BANKROLLED BY ELON MUSK, WHO IS OFFERING TO FILE ADDITIONAL SUITS FOR PEOPLE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST BY DISNEY

Gina Carano
@ginacarano

Today is an important day for me--I am filing a lawsuit against @lucasfilm & @Disney

After my 20 years of building a career from scratch, and during the regime of former Disney CEO Bob Chapek, Lucasfilm made this statement on Twitter, terminating me from The Mandalorian: "Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm & there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural & religious identities are abhorrent & unacceptable."

Nothing could be further from the truth. The truth is I was being hunted down from everything I posted to every post I liked because I was not in line with the acceptable narrative of the time. My words were consistently twisted to demonize & dehumanize me as an alt right wing extremist. It was a bullying smear campaign aimed at silencing, destroying & making an example out of me.

The thing is I never even used aggressive language. I shared thought provoking quotes, pictures, memes & occasionally I used my own words, not with aggression but with respect & the occasional comedy to keep the mood light in dark times.

Look with your own eyes at what I posted and ask yourself, for example, where did I compare Republicans to the Jewish people in the holocaust? I didn't. Ask yourself why they were calling me a racist, was there any merit behind that or history of it whatsoever? No. Look at why I was called a transphobe--for making droid noises from Star Wars? "Beep, bop, boop" was obviously directed to the online bullies and did not in any way denigrate transgender people.

DEIsney lied about the reason for her termination -- it was all about her refusal to bend to the trans extremists and post her pronouns. As Kneon pointed out in his ClownfishTV video, if this wasn't about the trans agenda and pronouns, why did DEIsney demand Carano attend a Struggle Session in which 45 LGBT DEIsney employees would hurl vitriol at her?

DEIsney realized how extremist and bizarre it would seem if they admitted they fired a popular actress over her refusal to post her very-obvious pronouns, so they pretended this was about "comparing Republicans to Jews."

Which, by the way, also isn't offensive.

But they lied to obscure their real, bizarre sociosexual agenda, because if parents knew about it, they'd flee DEIsney.

And they also lied because, while trans extremists love headhunting and bullying people, they don't like it being acknowledged that they're the ones tormenting people, because this would make them "feel unsafe."

(Feel unsafe making other people feel unsafe, that is.)

Were my questions about masks, lockdowns & forced vaccines ok to ask & push the subject into the light? Should we have been allowed to publicly discuss those topics at that time without being harassed or censored? Absolutely.

Hollywood says they support female representation & equal rights. Why then were my male co-stars permitted to speak without harassment & re-education courses or termination, but I was not afforded the same right to exercise my freedom of speech.

She means Mark Hamill and Pedro Pascal, both of whom called Republicans and/or Trump "nazis" and faced no pushback from DEIsney, no demands they stand before Struggle Session panels filled with conservatives, etc.

Artists do not sign away our rights as American citizens when we enter into employment. I have spoken to all my co-stars since I was fired & there is nothing but care and kind words between us. I respect their right to free speech & do not have to think the same on every issue to be their friends & work with them & I know they feel the same towards me.

A couple months ago @ElonMusk tweeted that if you had been fired from using the platform (X) for exercising your right to free speech, he would like to offer these people legal representation. Quite the noble offer, but never in my wildest dreams would I have thought anyone would take on my case against Lucasfilm/Disney. Still, I did respond back "I think I qualify" & thousands of people agreed--but I did not expect anything.

To my surprise, a few months ago I received an email from a lawyer who had been hired by X to look into my story & many others. Turns out after sending them as much information as I could gather these past few months, my now lawyers & X believe whole-heartedly in my case & are moving forward.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude & thank you to @ElonMusk & @X
for giving me an opportunity to bring my case to light.

As for me, I would love to pick up where I left off & continue my journey of creating & participating in story-telling, which is my utmost passion & everything I worked so hard for. It has been difficult to move forward with the lies & labels stuck on me, backed & encouraged by the most powerful entertainment company in the world. I am grateful someone has come to my defense in such a powerful way & look forward to clearing my name.

Thank you to all the people who have supported me & made your voices heard. I pray God blesses each & every one of you.

With love,

Gina Carano

Here is the amusing introduction to her lawsuit:

A short time ago in a galaxy not so far away, Defendants made it clear that only one orthodoxy in thought, speech, or action was acceptable in their empire, and that those who dared to question or failed to fully comply would not be tolerated.

And so it was with Carano. After two highly acclaimed seasons on The Mandalorian as Rebel ranger Cara Dune, Carano was terminated from her role as swiftly as her character's peaceful home planet of Alderaan had been destroyed by the Death Star in an earlier Star Wars film. And all this because she dared voice her own opinions, on social media platforms and elsewhere, and stood up to the online bully mob who demanded her compliance with their extreme progressive ideology.

Defendants' wrath over their employees' social media posts also differed depending on sex. Even though "the Force is female," Defendants chose to target a woman while looking the other way when it came to men. While Carano was fired, Defendants took no action against male actors who took equally or more vigorous and controversial positions on social media. But the rule of law still reigns over the Defendants' empire. And Carano has returned to demand that they be held accountable for their bullying, discriminatory, and retaliatory actions--actions that inflicted not only substantial emotional harm, but millions of dollars in lost income.

Full lawsuit here.

I thought that Carano's best claim was for defamation. I didn't understand why she's claiming viewpoint/political discrimination -- don't employers have the right to fire you over politics?

Not in California, no! Ron Coleman pointed out on the Valliant Renegade podcast that California, almost uniquely, has very strong protections for people's expression of their political thoughts, which employers are forbidden to punish. Coleman says that California implemented this law to protect COMMUNISTS from employers who didn't want commies on their staffs.

Of course. Of course. Of course it's to protect filthy communists.

But, they're stuck with that law now.

He does say that filing in California, Los Angeles County in particular, is a dicey call, given that "California judges are not eager to protect the free speech rights of conservatives." I'm not sure why she filed there.

I heard someone else say that if Musk is bankrolling this, then his goal is to get discovery from DEIsney and embarrass and humiliate them.

I don't think that his wishes can override Carano's, though. He may be paying Carano's lawyers, but Carano's lawyers are still Carano's lawyers, and have to pursue the best outcome for her. If DEIsney offers her a big payout to avoid discovery, then presumably she will take it.

Although... I myself was once represented by a lawyer who made it clear in our contract that he was representing me only for specific purposes (protecting the right to speak anonymously), and the moment he thought my case was shaky, he dropped me. So I guess lawyers could maybe sign a contract with Carano saying that they want to go at least through the discovery phase before considering a settlement.

By the way: There's a DEIsney shareholder meeting today.

I wonder if this lawsuit was filed last night with the purpose of causing problems for Bob Iger in addressing his increasingly-frustrated shareholders.

It's a crazy theory, but I think there might be some merit to it.

As you can see, DEIsney has written down on paper and ordered its employees to not hire people who are white, Christian, straight, and/or male.

Legal Mindset served as corporate counsel to different companies and points out that people are routinely fired for giving this sort of order -- and if they were stupid enough to write their illegal racist order down so that the company can't even claim it didn't happen? Forget about it.

DEIsney is demanding huge overrepresenation among all minorities, which means, of course, that non-favored groups must be severely underrepresented.

The Supreme Court just ruled that colleges are not permitted to resort to this kind of racial/sexual discrimination even if colleges think it's "good" to discriminate against some races. Lower courts will apply that rule to corporations as well.

Elon Musk
@elonmusk

If you were discriminated against by Disney or its subsidiaries (ABC, ESPN, Marvel, etc), just reply to this post to receive legal support

Remember, Film Threat has been publishing letters from fired/demoted DEIsney employees -- pushed out of the company for not being the right race or sexual orientation.

There could be hundreds of people who will ask for Musk's help in filing a lawsuit. They've avoided it until now, but now with a deep-pocketed benefactor, many will sue.

And -- I wonder if there are any other high-profile women that Disney engaged in political viewpoint discrimination against.

One more thing: Elon Musk attended a premiere with Nelson Peltz's family for a movie, Lola, in which Peltz's daughter appears.

Why would Musk out-of-the-blue attend a premiere with Nelson Peltz?

He was not coy. In fact, he was the opposite of coy: He said he was here "with friends" and "thinking about companies to acquire."

This must be a bluff, because I don't think he'd say he was going to buy up DEIsney if he really was going to buy up DEIsney -- it'll spike the share price and make acquiring it more expensive.

But... what if he's on the level?
