"Exits." Not "was fired." Not was "asked to resign."
"Exits."
Via Clownfish TV, Disney's chief diversity officer "exited" the company.
She wasn't fired or anything, Clownfish notes.
She just suddenly decided to leave her job without warning at 9:30 PM on a Tuesday night.
You know, the way people always "exit" their jobs voluntarily.
Disney's chief diversity officer and senior vice president Latondra Newton is exiting her role after more than six years, according to an internal memo obtained by Variety.
An individual with knowledge of the situation says that Newton will be joining the corporate board of another company soon, and plans to devote more time to her self-owned creative company.
So... she doesn't have another job lined up.
In her role as head of DEI operations at Disney, Newton was charged with overseeing the company's "commitment to produce entertainment that reflects a global audience and sustains a welcoming and inclusive workplace for everyone."
And how's that going? How did The Little Mermaid perform for global audiences?
By the way, South Koreans did not appreciate Disney branding them as "racist" for not applauding their latest race-swap. Good luck selling your next bomb in South Korea, Disney.
Back to the "exit:"
Upon her departure, Newton's direct reports will report to Julie Merges on an interim basis until a new chief diversity officer is named. Shelby Curry and the DEI internal communications team will continue to report to internal communications and engagement exec Carrie Brown.
So, they also don't have a replacement for her at the ready.
Newton's exit from Disney comes less than a week after CEO Bob Iger announced CFO Christine McCarthy's decision to step down from her role.
Clownfish cannot say what decisions or recommendations that this woman made, but they do notice the coincidence that Disney's woke weirdness, scrapping classic Disney rides due to political correctness concerns, constant race- and gender-swapping, and Not So Secret Gay Agenda began at about the same time she joined the company.
Though that's facile. It was Iger doing everything. He brought her to be an ally in his Woke War on Shareholder Value.
They're on more solid ground when they note that Disney has another quarterly earnings coming up, and that it's going to be D I S A S T R O U S. So Disney is probably scrambling in advance to show they're "righting the ship" before activist investor Norman Peltz decides he's had enough and leads another shareholder revolt.
Meanwhile, Disney Minus just shat out a steaming stinky pile of Disney Marvel "content." Secret Invasion is so bad that even reliable Disney/Marvel shill Grace Randolf says that the new series is a complete disaster, with poor writing, poor direction, and a very low budget that distracts from what little story there is.
So with Disney losing money hand over fist, with Marvel having shed half of its former built-in audience, and with critics absolutely savaging his new starring vehicle, what does the race-obsessed asshole soylib Samuel L. Jackson do?
Why, he goes out there and insults what's left of Marvel's audience.
Jackson didn't stop attacking most of the MCU's shrinking audience there.
The world seems to be in as hard a place as it's always been. As a child of the Sixties, watching what happened at the 1968 Democratic Convention, and seeing the police beating those demonstrators -- and those were young white kids -- I learned there's a certain kind of thing that the powers that be don't want us doing. One of them is protesting what they think they want us to do. So, when George Floyd happened, it was great to see all the different faces of kids out there fighting the injustice and what the power was doing once again to keep you from having an open mind or keep you from creating change that is not the change they want made. That part has not changed. In my opinion, it's kind of worse. They used to hide it. Now, they don't hide it anymore! When I grew up in segregation, I knew which white people didn't want to be bothered with me and I knew how they felt about me. I know how the Republicans feel about me now because of what my mindset is. When I see Trump, I see the same rednecks I saw when I was growing up who called me "n*****" and tried to keep me in my place. That's what the Republican Party is to me. They're doing it to young people, gay people. They don't care who you are. If you're not them, you're the enemy.
Oh, so you're saying that Republicans demonize The Other, Sammy? You're saying that Republicans walk around with hate in their hearts for other people based only on surface traits?
This guy is a piece of shit actor and always has been. He has one schtick, Angry Black Guy who Glares. And that's a schtick that any black guy can do. Craig Robertson did it just as well on The Office, but then later did other things with the character too. He wasn't just a Glare.
And lately Samuel Jackson has been following the Robert DeNiro career trajectory -- just getting lazier and lazier in playing every role exactly the same way, except when he does a little self-parody and just plays himself playing himself. DeNiro phoned in these DeNiro Impersonation Performances a lot in his later, sadder years (like in the Meet the Parents movies), and now Sam Jackson only has two modes, Sam Jackson scowling and glaring, and Sam Jackson mugging while he scowls and glares.
