The D.C. Police Union released new crime statistics on Monday, showing an 8% drop in overall crime in the nation's capital following President Donald Trump's announcement of a federal takeover of the Washington, D.C., police force last week.
According to the union, which represents the Metropolitan Police Department's 3,000 personnel, carjackings are down 83% since federal control was enacted, while robberies dropped 46%.
Violent crime fell 22% in the seven days since federal law enforcement began patrolling D.C.'s streets, and car theft came down 21%. Assault with a deadly weapon and property crime are also each down 6%.
"While federal assistance gives us a boost, we must repeal the misguided Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act in order to make these changes permanent," the union wrote on X, Monday morning.
The D.C. city council passed the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Amendment Act of 2022 in December of that year. According to USA Today, the measure was voted down by both the House and the Senate after it was submitted for congressional review in January 2023. Then-President Joe Biden vetoed Congress' decision, however, and the law took effect in April 2023.
The legislation established restrictions on the use of force, set parameters for the hiring and firing of officers and increased access to disciplinary police records.
Huh -- more cops, less crime. Who would have imagined it?
Scott Jennings points out that at the end of a New York Times article, it admits that judges are empowered and encouraged to treat anyone under 25 as a juvenile for sentencing purposes. In other words -- don't sentence anyone 25 or under for serious crime.
He points out that most street criminals in DC -- indeed, most criminals throughout history -- are young men, either older teenagers or younger twenty-somethings.
When the left embraced "decarceration" and defunding the police, they did not have the strength to do so frontally. The public wouldn't have it.
So instead, they just passed thousands of "reforms" post George Floyd's heart becoming a Hero for the first time in its life. And the purpose of these reforms was to (I keep saying this, but it's true) legalize crime for black people. The left complains that black criminals are punished -- they call this the "school to prison pipeline," but they always forget the middle step in that pipeline, "committing a serious, likely violent felony."
And they responded by passing "reforms" making it almost impossible to send a young black career street criminal to jail.
And of course it's this group that is responsible for 75% of all street crime.
This wasn't an accident -- this was the whole point.
If you haven't been to DC in a while, you might not know that every bit of grass in the city, from parks to green medians between roads, is now taken over by the homeless in big tent shanty towns.
Under Trump's direction, the tent shantytowns have been pulled down and put where they belong, in garbage trucks. There's a video below showing one DC resident marveling that he can finally walk down the street and not see a homeless encampment on the grassy strip beside the street.
Caution on this video, because she drops an n-bomb, but here's what one (black, female) DC resident says: "'Finally able to chill at a red light with my windows down, not worried about if one of them young n***as is coming. Riding through the city -- feeling more safe than I've ever felt."
Lot of cursing in this one, but she speaks deep truths The Man (meaning affluent white liberals) just don't want to hear.
Lot of cursing here, too: A (black, female) resident is angry that she woke up on yet another morning to find her car's window broken in by thieves.
Another testimonial from a black, female DC resident:
Wall Street Apes

This woman worked with a community leader in Washington DC, here's what she has to say about Trump's DC cleanup
"Do you not understand that this is what the residents want? I'm not talking about the bougie upper-echelon folks or the bougie Black people living in their gated communities with their new builds. I'm talking about the everyday grandmothers who are dealing with real struggles in their neighborhoods.
These grandmothers have to clean up after homeless people urinating and defecating on their steps. They don't feel safe walking in their own communities, where gangs and drug dealers--dope boys--are just standing around the corner. This is the reality they face, and this is what they want addressed.
I remember, about five years ago, working with a community leader when someone had just been shot. I can still hear her praying, saying, "Crystal, we're gonna have to invoke the National Guard." At the time, that idea felt so foreign to me. But now, I understand. These people feel helpless in the face of these challenges.
I'm so glad that President Trump cares about them--about the everyday grandmothers, not just the privileged few in their isolated communities. These residents want safety and solutions, and they deserve to be heard."
Many people have noticed that most protesters are white liberals, who probably don't even live in DC, given that less than 40% of the town is white. They probably come from the left-wing AWFL NOVA suburbs.
That's what this (black, female) resident believes.
We Got Receits compiles videos of leftwing AWFL "protesters" being arrested for obstructing justice and assaulting cops and National Guardsmen.
