NextImg:As Snow Woke Crashes and Burns, Hollywood Scrambles to Cancel Woke Projects In "Crisis Mode Panic"

Snow Woke opened beneath expectations, and lost 66% in its second weekend from its weak opening.

It fell so far, in fact, that the unthinkable happened. They had consoled themselves with the idea that because this past weekend featured no major releases, they would at least keep the #1 spot.

In fact, the non-woke Jason Statham took the #1 spot.

"Snow White" is no longer the fairest of them all at the box office.

The Disney live-action remake starring Rachel Zegler was unexpectedly unseated from its spot at No. 1 during its second weekend in theaters. In an upset, the new Jason Statham action movie "A Working Man" topped the domestic box office charts with $15.2 million in its first weekend, while "Snow White" grossed another $14.2 million during its sophomore frame, according to estimates from Comscore.

For "Snow White," this was a sharp decline from the film's initial $42 million debut last weekend. How steeply a movie declines in its second weekend can be indicative of whether it will continue to perform well in the weeks to come, making this a worrying sign for Disney.

The box office debut of "Snow White" last week was already considered a disappointment compared to how other Disney live-action remakes have performed. The live-action "The Little Mermaid" opened to $95.5 million over three days, while "Beauty and the Beast" opened to $174.7 million, "Aladdin" started with $91.5 million and "Cinderella" opened to $67.8 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

For years and years, we've wondered, When will the left get the message? When will the media finally get the message?

The disaster of Snow Woke may have been the message that finally got through to them.

Rachel Zegler's Snow White flop sparks anti-woke U-turn: Hollywood whistleblowers reveal how trans actors and liberal films are being dumped in 'crisis mode' panic

By CAROLINE GRAHAM FOR DAILYMAIL.COM

...

More than a dozen Hollywood insiders ranging from an Oscar-nominated producer to the writer of one of the most successful TV shows ever have spoken exclusively to the Daily Mail about an industry in 'crisis mode.'

'When the #MeToo [in late 2017] and George Floyd protests [May 2020] happened, every studio in town jumped on the woke bandwagon,' a Disney insider says.

'Five years on,' he adds, 'everyone is desperately trying to save themselves and Hollywood. You can't underestimate the fear behind closed doors. This feels like a battle for survival.'

I'm rooting for mass casualties.

At the House of Mouse, the disastrous box office failure of the $270 million Snow White reboot, which earned a lackluster $43 million on opening weekend, was the 'final nail in the coffin' of 'wokeism.'

...
.

Recounting meetings with snobbish Hollywood executives over the past several years, an Oscar-nominated producer tells the Daily Mail how he'd, 'hear people dismissing the "flyover states" [those in the middle of America],' adding, 'duh, those people are the ones who watch our shows and go to the movies.'

He cited this year's Oscars, which had the lowest ratings ever, for showcasing 'movies no-one cares about.'

...

'[Y]ou have films like Emilia Perez [about a cartel boss who transitions from male to female] which appeal to no one except a handful of ultra-left liberals.'

Has Hollywood finally realized the search for "The Modern Audience" is an expensive and futile snipe hunt?

'When woke first came in it was about the bottom line,' the producer explains. 'Studios thought going woke would attract a new, younger audience and make them money - but all it did was piss everyone off.'

An insider at Amazon's Prime Video streaming division told the Daily Mail that 'this was never about genuinely helping minorities... for most studio executives DEI was another way to make money. Now it's backfired and everyone is scrambling to change direction.'

The article quotes several older white writers and producers stating that they were brought in as secret employees on troubled minority-heavy productions.

But then they made those writers and producers keep secret about the White Taint they brought to these projects.

'Their DEI hires couldn't actually do the job. So, they had old white men like me re-writing things. The money was good, but I couldn't get any credit. That's the hypocrisy of Hollywood.'

Now, the anti-woke backlash is in full swing.

This week Mel Gibson, a director who was famously cancelled for drunkenly spewing anti-Semitic slurs during a 2006 drunk-driving arrest in Malibu, California, announced he will start filming his long-awaited follow-up to 2004's The Passion of the Christ in Italy this summer.

...

'The mood in Hollywood under President Biden wasn't conducive to someone making a movie about faith and God and certainly not someone like Mel who'd been cancelled. Now Hollywood's woken up to the fact that the mood has changed.'

The Disney animated show Win or Lose, which revolves around a middle-school softball team gearing up for a championship game, recently removed a transgender character.

The Disney executive who spoke to the Daily Mail privately admitted that this was a direct result of the anti-DEI backlash, the studio put out a statement in December saying: Mb<'We recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.'

Amazon, which owns The Apprentice - the show which made Donald Trump a TV star - has added every episode to its Prime Video streaming service after mothballing it for years.

'The numbers have been incredible,' one Amazon insider told me. 'Now anti-woke programming is making money. But it could be too little too late. So many jobs have been lost because of [DEI].'

A&E is bringing back Duck Dynasty, which the liberal executives hated, and Cops-like show called Live PD is coming back, too -- after it had been cancelled in the post-George-Floyd anti-cop panic.

...

'There is a course correction when it comes to entertainment,' Abrams said. 'When Live PD was cancelled the vast majority of people criticizing it had never watched an episode.'

Trump's The Apprentice is on the charts for the most-streamed series.
