An anti-war rally slated for later this month has been thrown into disarray by disagreements about a convicted child sex predator's participation, with many speakers threatening to pull out of the Libertarian Party-led event if it booted the pedophile.
Pressure mounted internally for the Libertarian Party to disinvite Scott Ritter from the rally after the Washington Free Beacon reported about Ritter's criminal past, which includes a 2011 prison stint for masturbating online in front of an undercover cop he believed to be an underage girl. He was arrested twice in 2001 after showing up for what he thought were meetings with 14- and 15-year-old girls. But as of this writing, Ritter's status as a featured speaker for the "Rage Against the War Machine" rally is still in limbo.

"The hit pieces have started to drop," she wrote. "I feel terrible about this situation, but we think it's best if you withdraw as a speaker for this event. We appreciate your anti-war advocacy so much and I wish I'd had a better plan to get out ahead of this. I'm so sorry about how this turned out."

As part of the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill passed in December, Congressman Hank Johnson (D-GA) earmarked $3.6 million to extend the Michelle Obama Trail outside of Atlanta.
The hiking trail was constructed in 2018, and originally spanned 3.8 miles, connecting Georgia State University's Clarkston campus to Gresham Park, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. It was extended another 2.2 miles in 2021.
The federal funds will go toward another extension: 4.5 miles that will connect Waldrop Road to Martin Luther King Jr. High School. Eventually, the county hopes the trail will connect with the proposed Michelle Obama Park, and join a network of nearly 22 miles of trails as part of the local PATH project.

I bet you I know how we wound up spending millions on "The Michelle Obama Trail" and the "Martin Luther King Jr. Trail" and all the rest of it: Because five years ago the left began an effort to say that everything that white people do is "problematic" because black people don't feel properly "welcome" to do it as well.
Among the activities targeted? Hiking, which apparently has a "white supremacy problem," because white people aren't being aggressive enough in marketing hiking to black people, letting black people know are allowed to walk on unpaved trails if ever the fancy strikes them.
