@Lawrence
Today is my 1st time inside the Capitol since Jan 6. Everything looks the same but it doesn't feel the same. Maybe I'll get used to it again but now it feels like a visit to an historic battlefield. Out of every window you see the paths of the attackers.
Those guys in the beginning of Saving Private Ryan had nothing on you, dude.
*salutes*

She just pushed through a very unpopular law allowing people to change their sex with a simple declaration -- no need of doctors affirming that the person is transgender, no affirmative steps needed. No, you can just say "I'm a woman now" and like magic, you are.
The UK Parliament invalidated that law.
Now she's all hemmed up because she has violent r@pists claiming to be women and then being assigned to women's prisons -- all due to her mad scramble to be More Trans Than the Actual Transgenders.
Her transgender legislation was supposed to show how progressive Scotland is, in order to drive a wedge between Holyrood and Westminster. It would portray the UK Tories as bigots and transphobes for opposing what she insisted was merely an 'administrative' change. After Rishi Sunak blocked the GRR Bill last month, on the grounds that it would have an 'adverse effect' on UK law, the first minister erupted as only she could. She described the move as 'Unconscionable, indefensible and really quite disgraceful', and 'a full-frontal attack on our democratically elected Scottish parliament'. She promised to unite Scotland's political clans and fight the transphobic Tories all the way to the UK Supreme Court.
She will almost certainly lose. The mere fact that trans sex offenders were being housed in women's jails makes Rishi Sunak 's case for him, and the UK government is pleased with events as they have unfolded. For it was not just one violent trans offender who was en route to Cornton Vale women's prison last week -- Tiffany Scott (aka Andrew Burns) had also been approved to transfer. Yet another, a violent 6ft 5in paedophile called Katie Dolatowski, had already been there since December.
Sturgeon has had to reverse Scottish prison policy by decree, ordering the SPS to stop sending male-bodied offenders to women's jails, even if they identify as 'women'. She has effectively sabotaged her own legislation on self-declaration. Yet she still adheres to the Stonewall dogma that 'transwomen are women'. It was never clear exactly what this slogan, so often used to shut down any debate about sex and gender, actually means. But Scottish voters are no longer in any doubt: it means putting male sex offenders in women's prisons.
Ministers are now claiming that they didn't know about the self-declaration policy in Scottish prisons which, if true, betrays a staggering lack of responsibility. This, after all, is the SNP's flagship legislation. The GRR Bill was designed to extend the practice of trans self-declaration and make it legally watertight, by giving people who want to change their sex a gender-recognition certificate after only three months. The bill, passed by Holyrood in December, caused the biggest parliamentary rebellion in the SNP's 15 years in power, and the resignation of the community-safety minister, Ash Regan.
Glenn Reynolds just wrote about the threat to "symbolic analysts" -- all the people, including stone-cold dopes, who claim to do thinking as a living -- that AI poses.
For decades, traditional manufacturing jobs were gobbled up by automation and offshoring. This led Robert Reich to postulate a hierarchy of work in which the "symbolic analysts" -- essentially, people who worked with information as opposed to actual stuff -- were at the top, while people who worked with actual things were at the bottom. With a remarkable lack of sympathy, journalists and politicians told coal miners and auto workers that they should "learn to code" as their jobs vanished.
But it turns out that the people whose jobs are at the most risk from AI are, well, the coders. ChatGPT can write code, and sometimes it's pretty good code. (Sometimes it's not, but then again, you can say that about the code that people write, too.) ChatGPT can write news stories, and essays, and speeches, and again, they're not always gems, but neither are the actual human products in those areas, either. And the AI programs get better from one year to the next, while human beings stay pretty much the same. That being the case, we can expect them to become a serious threat to jobs in the near future.
...
Now ChatGPT is threatening to replace people who write catalog copy, online entries, etc. Buzzfeed is replacing a lot of its writers with AI-generated text. You may joke that that's low hanging fruit (I mean, you know, Buzzfeed) but as Clayton Christensen noted, innovation often enters a field at the bottom, and gradually works its way up.
We'll all be replaced. To be honest, I don't mind being wiped out by AI as long as I know it will wipe out 80% of the media.
The College Board has backed down and is removing CRT material and material about "Queer Theory" from its AP courses, after DeSantis told them that it was unacceptable.
But meanwhile, the Daily Wire hired Jordan Peterson, and now he's a flaming "let the liberals do what they want. let's lose our culture nobly and politely" c*ck.
An enormous asteroid containing some of the oldest known cosmic materials was discovered in Antarctica on Jan. 5.
The 17-pound rock is made up of material potentially billions of years old, and is one of the rarest and most "exciting" finds, according to the BBC. More than 45,000 asteroids have been found in Antarctica over the last hundred years, but this most recent rock is pretty special.
Likely originating from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, the asteroid was discovered during an 11-day expedition by a group of international researchers, the Chicago Tribune noted. The team used specialized data and imaging tools to identify areas under the Antarctic ice where meteorites have landed throughout the history of our planet.
No one should be happy to find billion-year-old artifacts in the ice of Antarctica.
OUT: Trans women are women
IN: Trans women are the only real women; real women are not women because they haven't had to "put any work" into being a woman
This trans activist is selling "underwear packers" to girls who pretend to be boys. An "underwear packer" seems to be a fake package you wear in your underwear to fake a male bulge.
This is your daughter. This is your daughter on leftism. Any questions?
