NextImg:The Washington Post and a ‘Trump Dictatorship’

Telling.

Over there at The Washington Post is an op-ed by one Robert Kagan, “a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and an editor at large for The Washington Post.

And Kagan’s topic? The headline:

A Trump dictatorship is increasingly inevitable. We should stop pretending.

Kagan opens by saying this:

Let’s stop the wishful thinking and face the stark reality: There is a clear path to dictatorship in the United States, and it is getting shorter every day. In 13 weeks, Donald Trump will have locked up the Republican nomination. In the RealClearPolitics poll average (for the period from Nov. 9 to 20), Trump leads his nearest competitor by 47 points and leads the rest of the field combined by 27 points. The idea that he is unelectable in the general election is nonsense — he is tied or ahead of President Biden in all the latest polls — stripping other Republican challengers of their own stated reasons for existence. The fact that many Americans might prefer other candidates, much ballyhooed by such political sages as Karl Rove, will soon become irrelevant when millions of Republican voters turn out to choose the person whom no one allegedly wants.

… So, the Trump administration will have many avenues to persecute its enemies, real and perceived.

On-and-on-and-on Kagan goes fretting about a “Trump dictatorship” somewhere, somehow, down the road.

Completely unmentioned? Right this minute President Joe Biden and his left-wing henchmen are deploying the assets of the federal government precisely as Kagan tries to imagine Trump would do. (READ MORE from Jeffrey Lord: Jingle Smells Becomes an Instant Christmas Classic)

Who, after all, does Special Counsel Jack Smith report to? That would be the man who appointed him — Joe Biden’s handpicked Attorney General Merrick Garland. If ever there were an example of “a dictatorship in the United States” it would be the prosecution and persecution of Joe Biden’s political opponent — former President Donald Trump — by Joe Biden’s own Attorney General.

Clearly Engoron and his staff believe they have some God-given right to persecute Trump.

Kagan asks: “And who will stop the improper investigations and prosecutions of Trump’s many enemies?”

Hello? Who is stopping “the improper investigations and prosecutions” of Biden’s “many enemies?” Answer: No one.

What Kagan and his Post friends simply — deliberately? — ignore is that the American left has authoritarianism at its core. All of these leftists in the streets and on college campuses raging about Israel and the Jews are simply showing their true colors.

Those 500-plus riots that convulsed American cities with violence and murder in 2020 were not members of the Federalist Society. They were the hard core, Marxist-inspired Black Lives Matter crowd rampaging through one city after another. Go back in history and whether its those 1960’s riots against the Vietnam War or race riots or the leftist Occupy Wall Street uprisings, over and over the authoritarian left is always at work.

Without a hint of irony Kagan writes:

Should Trump be successful in launching a campaign of persecution and the opposition prove powerless to stop it, then the nation will have begun an irreversible descent into dictatorship.

Again: Hello?

Substitute “Biden” for “Trump” and that sentence is exactly a statement of where America is right now. Under Joe Biden the nation is this minute beginning a “descent into dictatorship.” (READ MORE: New York Times’ Never-Trump Lawyers Masquerade as Conservatives)

And with an assist from not only the corrupted Biden Justice Department but the corrupted New York Attorney General Letitia James and New York Judge Arthur Engoron, Trump has been targeted relentlessly.

Engoron has now, yet again, issued a gag order that demands Trump be silent about Engoron’s court staff.

Again. Hello?

Judge Engoron’s staff are, to a person, public servants. And a fact of life in the social media age is that public servants and public life can be threatened by some wack-a-doodle out there. Is that right or good? Of course not. But it is a fact of life. As President Harry Truman once said long before the Internet, if you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Clearly Engoron and his staff believe they have some God-given right to persecute Trump and they must never be called out for their massive corruption.

But I digress.

The joke here is that the Washington Post’s Robert Kagan is concerned about a potential Trump “dictatorship”  — but is mysteriously stone cold silent about the hard fact of the actual, in the flesh, Biden dictatorship that is this minute trying to recast America as a third-world banana Republic.

Imagine that.
