Joe Biden, who infamously expropriated British Labour Party Leader Neil Kinnock’s family story as his own, now edits one of his grandchildren out of the narrative.

Biden votaries in the press blame Republicans — and that notorious GOP rag the New York Times — for noticing the 4-year-old girl on the cutting room floor.

“Republican presidential candidates are ramping up their attacks over President Joe Biden and his youngest granddaughter, defying an unofficial rule in Washington that lawmakers’ families, especially minors, are off-limits to conflict,” begins a piece by Marina Pitofsky in USA Today. Pitofsky frames the issue not as Biden publicly taking notice of his six children when he has seven but as him “not publicly confirming whether he has a relationship with the girl.”

Huh?

The NBC News headline did not focus on the president disowning a granddaughter but instead read, “Republicans up the personal attacks on Biden and his family.” The smaller text informed, “Republicans are leaning into a deeply personal issue for the president.”

The New Republic’s Michael Tomasky recently highlighted the media’s double standard in its coverage of Biden’s strange refusal to acknowledge Navy Joan Roberts as his granddaughter. “If we discovered that Trump had an unacknowledged grandchild,” Tomasky maintains, “the media would cover it, certainly, but I doubt [Maureen] Dowd would be writing any columns accusing Trump of hypocrisy.” Last month the magazine Tomasky oversees published an article speculating on incestuous feelings Donald Trump allegedly harbors for his daughter Ivanka.

“This is not anybody’s business,” Whoopi Goldberg announced on the View earlier this month, referring to the New York Times piece on Navy Joan. “Nobody needed to know about this. This was private.”

Sunny Hostin seconded, “Yeah, write about something else!”

Aside from the cruelty of Biden refusing to acknowledge or visit one grandchild while maintaining relationships with the rest, the reason some journalists refuse to “write about something else” involves the pattern of the president presenting the family story that flatters over the true one.

When he boasted of “my ancestors who worked in the coal mines in northeastern Pennsylvania and would come up after 12 hours and play football for four hours,” he did not merely steal the words of Kinnock. He slurred his own ancestors, as though nothing in their lives amounted to anything — so why not assign the story of others to them?

The reality of how he met his wife embarrasses. So rather than admit that he courted a political supporter’s wife, he concocted a saccharine, too-perfect story of glimpsing a beautiful woman in an airport advertisement leading to a date to see A Man and a Woman, a film in which a widower receives a second chance at love leading to marriage.

His son Beau died of cancer in Bethesda, not from huffing a burn pit in Baghdad. Yet the president continues to say that Beau, who served honorably in the war but died six years after returning to the United States, lost his life in Iraq.

His first wife died along with his young daughter when a trucker could not stop after the car made an illegal turn. The president made up a story, smearing an innocent trucker in the process, of drunk driving killing his family members.

So instinctual does concoction come that even the family dogs become subject to White House coverups.

One guesses that the tragedy and torment subconsciously catalyzes the tall tales. Joe Biden lost a wife and daughter in a terrible wreck, watched cancer rob a bright and successful son of his future, and now deals with human flotsam and jetsam in his remaining son.

Hunter escaped reality through drugs. The president does so through the self-induced hallucination of a life different from the one he lives.
