By now, everyone has seen the video and heard the commentary chewing over the debacle in the Oval Office, in which a sweatshirt-clad Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, fresh out of a meeting with a host of mostly-Democrat Senators whose counsel may or may not have informed his behavior, sought to lecture and litigate American aid policy toward his country.
Hopefully, though almost certainly not, everyone has also seen two video clips which provide an enormous treasure of context to Zelenskyy’s outburst, and the intensely negative reaction to it by President Trump and Vice-President Vance. The first is from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s appearance on Laura Ingraham’s show Friday night.
There it is. Trump Cabinet member Scott Bessent says Zelensky already twice refused to sign a minerals deal with the U.S. under Trump. Twice. This 3rd time was most definitely planned.

And the second was Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s interview at the hands of CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, also on Friday night.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio just gave one of the BEST interviews I have watched in defense of President Trump’s Ukraine and Russia strategy.
President Trump picked a seasoned media veteran like Rubio for moments like these, here is the full interview! pic.twitter.com/ETaBLVVUHE

Over the weekend the New York Post’s Michael Goodwin shed even more light on why, 40 minutes into a 53-minute press avail that was going very amicably and cruising into completion of a half-trillion-dollar mineral rights deal which would have created the circumstances for peace between Ukraine and Russia, everything blew up.
A common criticism of Volodymyr Zelensky’s disastrous Friday performance in the Oval Office is that he failed to read the room.
Actually, the Ukrainian president did read a room — but it was the wrong room.
Before meeting Trump, Zelensky met with anti-Trump Democrats who advised him to reject the terms of the mineral deal the president was offering, according to Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.).
“Just finished a meeting with President Zelensky here in Washington. He confirmed that the Ukrainian people will not support a fake peace agreement where Putin gets everything he wants and there are no security arrangements for Ukraine,” Murphy’s office posted on X at 11:15 a.m. Friday.
He attached a picture of Zelensky at a conference table, with Murphy seated on the opposite side.
Forty minutes later, Zelensky arrived at the White House, where Trump met his car, smiled, shook his hand and walked him into the Oval Office.
The meeting, as the world now knows, quickly went off the rails and ended with Trump angrily ejecting the arrogant ingrate from the White House.
The earlier meeting with Dems undercuts wild claims that Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance staged an ambush. In fact, it was Zelensky who came with an ulterior motive.
The purpose of the meeting was to sign the mineral agreement he and Trump representatives had negotiated. He had twice refused to sign it after promising to, and thanks to Murphy, we now know he had no intention of signing it Friday.
By listening to the nakedly partisan advice of Dems instead of dealing forthrightly with the current president, Zelensky betrayed his countrymen and, for now at least, leaves them without the military and diplomatic protection that only America can provide.
By Sunday, Zelenskyy had traveled to London and secured a commitment for, not a half-trillion dollars in aid for his country, but … $3 billion.
And in the meantime he had issued repeated messages on X claiming his “readiness” to sign the mineral rights deal with the U.S. but maintaining his demand for security guarantees.
What on earth is happening here?
Zelenskyy a Tool of the Globalists
Let’s understand something which is crucially important, which is that Volodymyr Zelenskyy is no more the leader of his country than Joe Biden was the operative President of the United States.
Zelenskyy blew up that meeting because he was told to. Not by his own people or the Ukrainians who advise him, but by the globalist elite cabal, among whose members are Americans like Susan Rice, Alexander Vindman, Victoria Nuland, and Antony Blinken, who are desperate to keep the Ukraine War going to further their pecuniary and political aims.
The evil at work here is astounding. The spin and vitriol coming out of that Oval Office debacle is nauseating.
Even if it means American troops get thrown into the meat grinder that is the Ukraine War. In fact, that is quite obviously the ultimate aim.
Polling consistently shows support for a U.S. troop commitment in the low 20’s at best. It’s a political non-starter. Nothing like that can happen without a crisis which changes the equation.
And for three years, those faceless elites did everything they could to stoke one.
Somehow a peace negotiation in Istanbul was scuttled by then-UK prime minister Boris Johnson, reportedly at Biden’s urging, in the spring of 2022. Then somehow the Nordstream II pipeline under the Baltic Sea was blown up. Now there is the Zelenskyy crack-up in the Oval Office.
All the while we’re told Vladimir Putin is Hitler and that he’ll be at the Pas de Calais in two year’s time, or something, if he isn’t stopped now.
Putin can’t get to Kiev, much less to Warsaw or Berlin. He’s lost the better part of a million men simply taking the parts of eastern and southern Ukraine that he’s taken, most of which is historically Russian and populated by ethnic Russians. One can debate whether these limited advances indicate Putin’s inability to consume more of Ukraine, or his indifference; it doesn’t really matter. He isn’t Hitler, and yet for some reason they won’t stop telling us he is.
When they aren’t telling us Trump and Vance are Nazis, that is.
None of these people have a credible strategy for Ukrainian victory they’re willing to offer to counter Trump’s insistence on a cease-fire to stop the killing in that benighted part of Europe. Remind them that Ukraine is running out of men to fight this war of attrition and they seem to be in denial.
But they aren’t in denial. They just don’t want to tell you what they really want.
They want to pour American troops into Ukraine and to insert us into a third great war on the European conflict.
Why didn’t they do it when Biden occupied the Oval Office? Because they couldn’t sell it. And then they lost the 2024 presidential election. But now, it turns out that Ukraine might be their path back into power if they play things just right.
After all, it turns out you can advance a whole lot of socialism when you’re at war, and there’s a fat lot of money to be made on government work in such circumstances, too. We know that our ruling elite are generally obsessed with both aims; it should be no surprise they’re so adamant at starting World War III in Ukraine.
So Trump sends Rubio to Riyadh to meet with Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, and the vibe coming from that meeting is that a cease-fire might come soon. Various Trump administration figures signal that Ukraine joining NATO is a dead letter, which is perhaps the single most important public statement available to move the world toward peace. Putin has for more than two decades indicated that Ukrainian NATO membership is a casus belli for Russia; it is in fact reckless and stupid to push Ukraine into NATO.
And there was a time, a little more than a decade ago, that the people of Ukraine elected a president who campaigned on the idea that neutrality, rather than NATO membership, was the correct course. That president was deposed in a coup by the Obama CIA with USAID money, of course.
And now, when offered an economic partnership which confers an American national interest in Ukraine’s territorial integrity — as we certainly wouldn’t tolerate Russian soldiers standing atop our bought-and-paid-for holes in the ground — Zelenskyy blows up the deal.
Which was followed by Susan Rice going on MSNBC to trash the mineral rights deal, and the Trump administration that crafted it…
Amid the uproar which came from reports that Rice, Nuland, Vindman, and Blinken were advising Zelenskyy all the way up to his plane landing in Washington on Friday, Rice later denied she had a relationship with him. Believe that if you want, in the knowledge that Susan Rice is the same documented liar who went on Sunday shows claiming the Benghazi disaster was the result of a YouTube video mocking the prophet Muhammad.
Rice’s points are utter nonsense. We know that they’re nonsense.
For example, we know that Putin will sign no cease-fire where the U.S. either has troops in Ukraine or is obligated by treaty to put them there. He has said such an obligation — after all, it’s the essence of NATO membership — is a casus belli for 25 years and he said it in Riyadh.
Now perhaps we might have a national interest there, created by that mineral-rights deal. That would create a security guarantee of sorts. One, in fact, that the Russians cannot reasonably object to. After all, it’s clear that someone will have to pay to rebuild Ukraine, and Russia can’t afford to do it. So it’ll have to be the U.S., and the days of asking us to pay for things like that without a means of recompense are gone.
We’re already $350 billion in the hole paying not just for the war but also to bankroll Zelenskyy’s government from pension plans to trash pickup. Trump is going to insist on a way to make back those dollars, and this is that way.
No Cease-fire if US Troops Are Committed
Bessent’s mineral rights deal emerged after Riyadh. Russia has said nothing about the mineral rights deal. Read between the lines and it should be fairly clear the Russians were willing to accede to it.
But any written security guarantee between Ukraine and the U.S. is a nonstarter with Russia and no cease-fire can be had.
So no cease-fire will be had, and things will get inevitably worse for Ukraine, and Trump will be put to the question: is he willing to be the American president who “lost” Ukraine?
Maybe a fresh round of media stories about war atrocities and Ukrainian heroism, or maybe some “Remember the Maine” event turns public opinion and forces Trump’s hand.
Either way, all of this is aimed at forcing Trump into a Hobson’s choice that he specifically ran on, and won because of, the prospect of avoiding.
The evil at work here is astounding. The spin and vitriol coming out of that Oval Office debacle is nauseating. And the bodies continuing piling up to the sky are a damning indictment of the evil people who surround and command Zelenskyy.
